There were fanboys of Wii U but they liked the brand in a different way sharing funny miiverse posts and thanking Nintendo for doing 3 days straight of gameplay in an age of CGI teasers. They're always like that. It's just for the past 10 years Nintendo has mostly been pulling a W until the past like 1-2 years where most of their decisions are slowly anti-consumerism. So back then rooting for Nintendo was the popular opinion, tendies don't really look out of place. Now the popular opinion on Nintendo is shifting towards the other end so tendies are starting to look more like a cult.
