I think this game is the basic bitch critique of the 50's. If you notice you are an outsider killing these mostly white, middle class and well groomed people. I think as a game and a satire, Aliens is the better game

I actually just finished one: Mad Father. It's in English too, I only have screenshots in Japanese though.
If you want spoilers from the very end of the game: the little girl you play as manages to escape from her psychopathic father, grows up and opens a clinic for poor people... where she murders them. Family business.

It did happen a couple of times later. Ubisoft gave a couple of their studios a chance to make "indies" once. They made Rayman: Origins, Valiant Hearts and Child of Light.
Squenix similarly made/funded some "indies", like I Am Setsuna. I think they still do from time to time, in fact.

Xbox allows for smaller games for many years now but many get called "indie" like Cuphead and Ori and get ignored being funded my Xbox. Also many AA games with reasonable budgets recently, Obsidian in particular has been shooting them out like crazy.
