360 played on Xenia. The PC port is legitimately the worst port of all time unfortunately. The fact it's still sold on Steam is kind of a disgrace.

You can remove the ugly washout filter, the vignette, the sharpening filter and the HDR with Xenia. Honestly the ugliness is part of the charm.

With fixes it's at least reasonably playable, and definitely worth playing over IV. Somewhat surprisingly for such a god awful port, it also has far better aircraft controls than IV/V.

Rumors float around that IdolNinja's patch was mostly completed, but the only ones who ever got to play it is Volition's Discord cabal and they don't intend to release it, ever.

The dogshit PC port really fucked over the chances of more people experiencing the absolute kino that is Saints Row 2.

Mission design is pretty bad compared to GTA. The problem is that most of the scripts are broken, there's also a lot of reliance on half-baked activities. And unlike in GTA, they don't require skill, just patience on the part of the player. What the game does better are smaller things that GTA doesn't do well. But that's true of all the GTA clones. The only GTA clone that beats GTA at its own turf is Mafia, and even there it's debatable how much of a GTA clone it is, or if it beats GTA at all

For the most part, yes. The game runs smoother, much more stable, improves visuals, adds extra features and tweaks, and all it takes is drag, drop, overwrite and play. If you use the Steam copy, it'll automatically patch the EXE for you. As an extra copy and paste 32-bit d3d9.dll from DXVK to wrap it up to Vulkan for better frame pacing and performance.

Sounds like something DXVK+Special K ought to solve. Had no issues personally. DXVK+Juiced+Special K+Overhauled Stilwater. I was still schizosaving but ir crashed extremely rarely so I 100% it pretty easily.

True, but nothing's stopping you from playing it both on Xenia and patched PC port to get the gist of the DLC's and to play at higher res with better performance with mods like Gentlemen of the Row.

Like, sorry, but Xenia is dogshit when it comes to performance and graphics. 2x scaling works like shit, most of the time you can't even render the games at native 1080p and it will still use 99% of your CPU and GPU, still run like shit and still look like shit. It's awesome that it exists and it works, but it's arguably one of the worst emulator experiences. Midnight Club: LA is fucking riddled with bugs that make it borderline unplayable for example.

I liked all the gameplay additions to SR2 and still find it peak, but damn if I didn't like Saints Row 1's atmosphere and tone more. I liked fighting gangs that actually consisted of gangbangers and introducing rasta/tribal/ninja gangs in SR2 was one of the first signs of where the series would head later on.

The story is kind of fun but still considerably worse than sr2 and they butchered most of the characters including the MC. Also once you finish the story the game starts to feel incredibly hollow.
