Holy shit I got meme'd on. All I've done so far in this game is jog from cut scene to cut scene, occasionally beating up some goons as an intermission. This is a movie masquerading as a game. I see there's an inventory system, but I've yet to see any gear because the game is too busy feeding me short movies. I've resorted to taking the long route to the next cutscene, so I can maybe fight one more group of goons and get a taste of actual gameplay.

Every Yakuza game is like that if you just follow the main objectives. Your supposed to run around and explore, do side content and minigames, etc before you decide to progress the main story.

SIDE content is on the SIDE because it's shit. If it was good or important then it would be in the MAIN questline/mission. Imagine actually playing the leftover scraps the devs don't even care about. lol.

Y7 is kino but it pales in comparison to kiryukino and yagamikino
anyone who doesn't like Yakuza is a tastelet. they're just flat out fun games despite their flaws

Which chapter are you on? The only time I'd say this is accurate is in the very first chapter and part of the second. It sets up a ton of things both gameplay and story wise so that it doesn't have to do it later on. Maybe not the best way to introduce players to the game but it works out in the long run.

I can forgive a slow start, but this one is pretty difficult. Literal hours of "jog here, watch this". It's not even slowly introducing the player to concepts, it just.. doesn't at all, for too long.
