I didn't care that much about the story and the companions but it was really fun to play. Honour Mode is the most fun I've had in years.

Sadly Larian fucked up the mercs as well by making them be a bunch of freaks voiced by Withers instead of actual mercs. If they were like the silent mercenary party members you hire in Pathfinder WOTR/Kingmaker than that would have been fine.

Reddit shit. It's made for "modern audiences" in every meaning of the word. It's also beloved by Kotaku and other game journalists, and Larian unironically got mindbroken when they realized white men play the game.

I'm currently playing through this game for the first time. I really enjoyed the first chunk of the game in the wilderness but after arriving at the Underdark I feel like the quality falls off quite a lot.

I'm a huge bg1/2 fan and while i don't consider it a good followup to them, i still think it's a good game in its own right. Becomes stale in act 3 though, really needs a level cap remover and harder encounters mods.

The best way to enjoy it is by far with a male durge + 3 girls party.

Im almost at Act 3 and just became a Slayer demon thing which is cool.
Weird thing about this game: barely half the playerbase made it past Act 1. And this game is retardedly popular too so thats a lot of people just totally losing interest.

To be fair, act 1 is huge and is probably the best representation of a low level dnd campaign i've seen in vidya. No shame in dropping the game afterwards because the second half does drag a lot.

I beat it back when it came out and then one final time when it came out with the final patch. It's alright, I'll probably only ever touch it again if I play with friends.
