I'm pretty sure it's actually less common for gaming fantasy IPs to actually stick with swords and sorcery fantasy. It reaches a point where I can come across some classic fantasy gaming IP, guess that it has sci-fi in it, and turn out I'm right. I did that with Wizardry at one point.
