The guards in the beginning are the best example of this they always atack with their meat cleavers round one and cut of a limb and then try the rape atack on round 2
The only way to beat them is by replaying the first encounter a few times and trying random shit and seeing what works to get you to the next round of combat relatively unharmed
Only after a few trys xou realise that they always do the same thing and that you have to atack their cleaver round one and then block their coin flip attack round 2
There is no way to figure it out organically without dying a few times and every enemy encounter works like that
The entire game you experiment with what works on what stage of the dungeon and after you figured out what youre supposed to do after hours of trial and error there is no longer any challenge
Its easy you can assemble a full party and get the best weapons in the game in under an hour and then just brute force your way to mahabre on the second half of the game
The second half is even easier because of the infinite save tower
I liked the lore enough to keep going and it felt great beating the game and getting all the endings but the game is objectively trash

Played and finished the game just fine. You don't need to be an autist to understand everthing work in the game. Just a little time and experimentation, just like all games do. The only difference between this game and other rpgs is you dying in the process of learning the enemy behaviour but that's only in the first few tries. In the first you have to chose which limb you attack and every limb has an impact on the enemy
If you cut of their arm they cant dismember you but they can still atack you via tackling you and deal a good bit of damage
If you cut of their lega their stunned and ther head is exposed for an insta kill
If you attack their torso you deal decent damage and slowly whittle them down until their dead or if you feel like it you can go for an direct attack on the head and take them out instantly but doing so is super risky because youre most likely miss if you haven't weakened them a bit
The problem is that every enemy has an optimal solution to every enemy and a single mistake can lead to your death so theres no point on doing anything else and experiment with different playstiles once you found out the optimal solution
In the second they increased the limb health of all opponents so that its impossible to cut of an limb on turn one which makes the entire mechanic sort of redundant since you can't prevent the enemy from infecing you or cutting a limb of yours of now and its best to just always go for the torso since by the time you removed one of their limbs they would already be dead if you just attacked their torso

Their limb health is high enough that a single attack might not be enough to cut of an limb and they have two potential run killing attacks per turn
Cut of their cleaver and they hit you with the mace and give you infection which kills you in a fee ingame minutes if you don't have the very rare and specific healing item which serves no other purpose but to heal you from infection
Cut of their mace and they cut of one of your limbs and now theres a good chance you cant hold your weapon anymore
By the time you get to the one guaranteed elite guard that spawn near legarde your thankfully already so late into the game that you should have a full party and some good weapons so he should be no trouble but it still sucks that such an enemy exists
If you fight one early one your almost guaranteed to lose since there's nothing you can do

Had to kill the mercenary dude in the mines, hope this didn't lock me out of the best ending

Something like Oxygen Not Included is very complex to understand, but you can save and retry anytime so there's no forced downtime, while F&H is full of it. Quicksaving to succeed at a pickpocket check in Skyrim is already boring, but quicksaving with a mandatory downtime waiting of 5 minutes between each attempt is much worse. The game is extremely binary in that it's either good move or restart, constantly.

People hear about le lore and want to experience the game, but don't want to break their teeth on it. Plus it never feels like you're cheating when you use a wiki, just using a tip as if a friend was helping you, but in this type of game you use the wiki for every interaction in the end. Games like SMT Nuctorn Is probably the exact same type of game you would hate with being tedious and sometimes extremely difficult because the game has effect that can insta-kill you and even simple enemies can fuck you up if you're not careful. The same advantages you have and can abuse enemies can also abuse. Yes you will die a loy yet people still like the game and actually play it from start to finish and is still concidered a PS2 classic. The dungeon in the game shit and fucking horrible and bosses can sometimes oneshot you under special conditions yet still it was a great game with a great atmosphere, theme and fun gameplay despite being tedious.
