It's not gonna win GOTY. It's gonna get Dark Knighted. GOTY is for the insiders and to prop up the big players. They will not want to acknowledge this level of honest embarrassment. It's not a matter of them throwing a bone to a single developer indie game. It's that their model of what's required to make a good game is threatened. It might get some nominations but not a win.

DS2 is great but the story is often nonsensical, filled with plot holes, and the predictable mostly happy ending doesn't really leave much of an impact, just serves to set up death stranding 3 with Kojima's strong female protagonist
E33 tells a beautiful story of grief, is tightly woven for most of the game, and still has an impact. As far as soundtracks go, both are great but E33's is used flawlessly while the nature of DS2 has it randomly kick in when it thinks you're at a certain point in the delivery but will often get cut short if you enter a menu or go too far / finish the delivery too soon, creating some occasionally janky uses of the soundtrack.
As for gameplay, E33 has one of the best feeling "turn based" combat systems in its genre, and while DS2 made huge improvements to 1 it still feels like it's imitating MGSV but isn't nearly as tight as it.

It's easily the GOTY so far, yeah.

not really. jrpgs are about team building and psychopathic optimization and this game chooses to focus on developing the in battle combat at the expense of making the actual jrpg part of the game easy to solve. in battle should be watching your team execute your game plan. i do like the 1 hp strats but the parrying for most enemies is too easy (except for some enemies who don't have an audio cue for some reason) so it just makes the strategy part of the game even less intensive and focuses more on the in battle. pokemon legitimately has more strategy than this game.

Death Stranding 2: DS1 didn't win GOTY, and this is literally just more of the same, so I don't see why this should.
Blue Prince: No way in heaven or hell that a roguelike is winning. I'd be surprised if it even got nominated for GOTY.
Split Fiction: Maybe. Got a lot of normie appeal and It Takes Two did win GOTY that one time.

Monhun Wilds: This shouldn't even get a nomination in any category.
Mario Kart World: I feel like the online update sapped away a lot of the goodwill, but it will most likely get a nomination at the very least.

It is but mostly because this year has been mid so far.
I didn't play it at launch because I don't like active RPGs and it seemed like the parry system would be the whole game(you hit your parries and slaughter the enemy or you don't).
Now I'm at the end of the game and I realized I was absolutely right. Trash mobs take 100 times more time to take up when you have to wait through their animations. Plot is pretty good but now I'm in the mood for a system with more strategic depth than "time your RB presses and win the game".

Death Stranding 2 is locked on PS5, E33 is a multiplatform, not to mention, most people that played it, actually pirated it. You can't compete with that. Sekiro had the same advantage over Death Stranding 1. It got quickly cracked and was played by a lot of people, meanwhile DS1 was this weird game that people that did not play it loved to misconstrue and call it a walking simulator. The 3D tunneling and digging in Donkey Kong looks more innovative than literally anything in E33. But that doesn't mean E33 shouldn't win GotY.

I've been playing computer games since 1982.
E33 is a decent "modern" video game. Looks like skyrim (but without the freedom), plays like persona, nice warbly ambient ost, nice voice acting, nice character designs. Baby's first rug-pull twist (that was obvious from 10 mins into the game). Beautiful environments you can't interact with, arbitrary boundaries. Anything collectible marked as a sparkling pillar of light. Climbing and jumping at designated spots only. Fucking infuriating for anyone interested in the potential of processing horsepower for simulating environments. there is really no need for this game to have been a game at all, it's just another team of frustrated filmmakers who have a story they want to tell but whose only entry point to media industry is coding + steam

DS2 isn't winning after how divisive the first game was and after the first game didn't even win it. DS2 isn't doing enough to make up the difference.

This personally took me a lot of tries, I did get it eventually. As the other guy said stay in the middle, as you do it you get more muscle memory for that damn delay. What helped me is i hit the shoot key/button right when they would change direction about halfway down the screen, and then over time got used to it. Over time you realize that you keep missing that one, another thing is when you miss one, ignore the next one, cause itll unsync you. Dont try to hit the second one. You get hit? Consider it as getting hit twice and line yourself up for the 3rd one coming.

Are people really getting filtered by the volleyball minigame? I mean I get that it's a bit annoying but it's really not that hard. I assume it's just people don't want to spend the time to get how to beat it because it's a silly minigame? If you can beat the game and the endgame content you should 100% be able to beat the volleyball minigame.

The button delay was annoying, and the center Gestral was hard to see at times. I still beat it on my third try, changing it to toggle sprinting made a significant difference.
