Nintendo's most enduring strength is that they have enormous talent retention but also that they are constantly training a new generation of developers and designers. Most of Nintendo's big franchises currently are run by people who cut their teeth on Gamecube/GBA titles.

GX is critically acclaimed and F-Zero still has a massive fanbase begging for a new game. Not to mention a lot old series were revived on the switch so that would’ve been the time to bring it back
Meanwhile pikmin is much smaller, no one liked the 3rd game (which was on the fucking wii u of all systems), and not only did it get a port but a 4th game as well. So yea, miyamoto is definitely pulling some strings
