>>715374775I won't deny that Activision are evil but that's less relevant given the known drop in sales from entry to entry with Crash 4 being the flop that broke the camel's back. I don't think Activision ordered a complete change in character designs (woke or otherwise) or a story that is both heavily ripped off from other Crash games while lacking its own original substance.
Remember: TFB were the devs behind the successful but very much crap Skylanders games. I'm willing to believe Activision had a hands off approach to this but the gamble didn't pay off so they shut everything down. Part of that greed mindset is not caring about what's in the product, only whether or not the product sells. When the Toys to life fad wore off and Skylanders bombed, they axed that franchise without a moment's hesitation.
Picsreel is Toys for Bob head Paul Yann describe the Crash Bandicoot franchise (not just Crash 4) as "Looney Tunes meets Jackass". A description that only somewhat describes Twinsanity and post-twinsanity games under Radical Entertainment. And even then, nobody who knows Looney Tunes (in any era) would describe the writing and artistic decisions made in Crash 4 as "Looney Tunes".
