Activision murdered the only companies who did something good and successful with Crash during his revival period. Then they added salt on the wound by completely revising the brand again in the form of an artistically directed sequel with a girlboss and a MOBA. I wish I could see some future where Crash isn't owned by Activision especially with all the layoffs and corporate shutdowns. Just think for a moment, it was Activision that killed the IP before and made it dormant for nearly 10 years. They're the ones who thought 10+ million sales per remake wasn't enough and demanded MTX be put in one of them. Toys for Furfags is a symptom of a bigger issue, Activision's evil is the real culprit.

Sort of?
Crash 4 and Star Fox Zero aren't that comparable but I think the common ground is that they reset the series ignoring what came after the "golden years"
Crash 4 is particular jarring given Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled reinforced that every character mattered

I won't deny that Activision are evil but that's less relevant given the known drop in sales from entry to entry with Crash 4 being the flop that broke the camel's back. I don't think Activision ordered a complete change in character designs (woke or otherwise) or a story that is both heavily ripped off from other Crash games while lacking its own original substance.

Remember: TFB were the devs behind the successful but very much crap Skylanders games. I'm willing to believe Activision had a hands off approach to this but the gamble didn't pay off so they shut everything down. Part of that greed mindset is not caring about what's in the product, only whether or not the product sells. When the Toys to life fad wore off and Skylanders bombed, they axed that franchise without a moment's hesitation.

Picsreel is Toys for Bob head Paul Yann describe the Crash Bandicoot franchise (not just Crash 4) as "Looney Tunes meets Jackass". A description that only somewhat describes Twinsanity and post-twinsanity games under Radical Entertainment. And even then, nobody who knows Looney Tunes (in any era) would describe the writing and artistic decisions made in Crash 4 as "Looney Tunes".

I commend NF for synergizing the artstyle of nearly every character in existence but only a handful of characters in the series ever really mattered. Nobody was clamoring for the return of Zem, Geary or the mime aliens. I doubt anyone cared about a german cyborg or two chicken newscasters or Willie Wumpa Cheeks. Really the only characters that matter are the Naughty Dog cast, Crunch, Nina and N. Trance. The series if anything should've tried making better characters who didn't feel like goofy OC's.

>AG Crash needs a total reboot. Thereโ€™s an opportunity to reset the history, and go back to his creation story and the original conflict with Cortex. In that context, you could reprise classic Crash 1 and 2โ€™s settings and villains. It would make sense to use a more modern, free-roaming style. I would concentrate on Looney Tunes-esque animation and really addictive action. Thatโ€™s what we did with the original Crash, and thereโ€™s no reason it couldnโ€™t be done today. Given the current Crash games, people forget that he was once cool. Our Crash had a certain whimsical edge to him. Sure, it was goofy โ€“ but it wasnโ€™t dumb.

That article is dated in 2013 and it was in response to the awfulness that was the Titan games. Likewise, the Nsane Trilogy happened, he got what he wanted (sans the open world bit). Activision dropping the ball after that is a different matter entirely.

He is a goofy character in the age of multi million dollar games. Companies can spend that kind of money on a character that has zero pull. No one talks about him outside obscure forums. He is also now a character that is part of 'dad' gaming. No kids the age 6-16 know who he is unless their parents show them, thus once again zero pull. Their isnt a way to revive it either platformers are mostly done and the cost to advertise and build him up would be monumental and need a VERY good game along side that its a sunken cost. Crash and his contemporaries are gone.

Crash getting a manga but not an official comic or cartoon is the most bizarre thing in the world. Especially when a 90's animated Crash cartoon maybe taking inspiration from Ducktales, Goof Troop and Animaniacs would've done well. Or silly comics that are recreations of the games events or new stories, even Sonic gets comics.

Here's my request; Come up with an original character to fit in the world.
Here's some criteria;
>Hanna-Barbera visual design (blocky, an easily-identifiable silhouette)
>Preferably an anthropomorph
>Low detail - don't complicate things
Avoid;
>memes/references
>existing/lost media

If you've got something in mind and can at the very least sketch out some designs; please do and post them in response to this.

Mario has the same amount of shit games as Crash. They just make them endlessly until he becomes a cultural icon like Mickey Mouse. Same with Sonic who has 06 and other bad media attached to his name. Crash fluctuates and doesn't really go for some specific niche. If Sonic is for autistic furfags and Mario is just a Mickey Mouse mascot what is Crash? He could've been the Bugs Bunny but even Bugs isn't doing well with WB.

Though there has been some ambitious Super Mario releases over the years most of it has been forgettable slop. And just about everything from Sonic over the past 20 years has been inartistic garbage that only a glue-eating retard could think highly of. It really does boil down to just how hard a company shills a mascot. This is why Crash & Mega Man have been fading while Sonic & Mario remain popular.

I don't disagree that its bad. But I think Microsoft would be better at achieving a revival if they were really serious about it. The most you could ever expect from Hackdivision were these tacky Skylanders tier garbage they've been commissioning in recent years for some easy cash flow - ugly insipid games by people who are not passionate at all about the series. Most likely though, Crash & Spyro will just continue collecting dust alongside Banjo.
