Battlefield V has Swiss K31 bolt action rifle, this gun is unique because you can have both clip reloads and detachable mags, but if you choose mag option then chamber always has bullets which you can see while reloading, even if it's an empty reload.

it's not just the randomized faces. it was the ridiculous, shitty animations they had and the awful character model lighting making them appear extra ghoulish. it was absurd to think anyone playtested that and thought "yeah that looks good for a game released this year"

In Arma 3 there's a spearhead expansion DLC that features World War 2. There's a lot of attention to detail and realism but even they couldn't be perfect because of you equip a K98, you can reload it normally with a stripper clip of 5 rounds but if you attach a scope on it, now you can only reload one round at a time. The thing about that however is that you can keep pressing reload and put in rounds 1 at a time indefinitely. Imagine watch your character just grab round after round and shoving it into the gun over 50 times and still going. Massive oversight especially for a game that tries to be as realistic as possible.

The original State of Decay had a resident gun nut that went ball on it. Not some much design as the sheer amount that he threw in because the guns were static models with no moving parts. Lots of redundants like six kinds of Glock style hand grenades and hunting shotguns but the variety was good for a game at that pricepoint. Lotta bang for your buck in more ways than one. Sucks how limited the second game was despite the higher budget and longer time it spent in dev hell. Your actual community locker wasn't big enough to store every weapon with consumables in the same save. Even with the mods that added in the military surplus from Lifeline into the loot lists.

In order to save resources the developers of Destiny 2 came up with the solution to have all gun animations be the same regardless of the type of gun. By making only one animation they were able to decrease file sizes for the hundreds of guns found in the game.
They would simply turn on or off the specific components needed for the weapon. However in the early days of Destiny 2 almost all guns ejected bullet cases even ones that weren't supposed to, like energy weapons and revolvers. This was because they simply forgot to turn off that specific component in the weapon animation and it took nearly 4 years for them to fix it.
It also led to misconceptions in the lore as certain guns were not supposed to use regular brass bullet casings, but in game they clearly were.

I work with them a lot and I truly honestly believe that the problem is us. Indians CAN do good work, the problem is they do exactly what you say, how you say it and nine times out of ten if you say nothing you get nothing. You have to give them explicit instructions with detailed documentation. Its not like with American workers where yo can tell them to just do the job and have them get on with it. You also have to prompt them for questions. They will have questions and will want guidance but if you never explicitly ask them if they need clarification or have questions they will never bring it up. Americans work worse with micromanaging, Indians work better with micromanaging.

Honestly I prefer working with them than with the Chinese. The Chinese will make what you want but will try to cut corners or just outright give you something other than what they showed you if you don't watch them like a hawk. Chinese also have a "You get what you pay for" mentality that American management just cant wrap their head around. Chinese do not race to the bottom and give you a good product for less, they just make a product with the budget you give them. They don't do lowest bidder nonsense. You can absolutely ask to cut the price in half and they will agree but you will get a product that is twice as bad as you are expecting.

I used to really not care about gun accuracy in games but I feel like last year I finally snapped and had a massive standards shift. Like it doesn't outright RUIN a game for me if its guns are nonsense, but I have really come to appreciate the engineering of firearms through games with at least decently passable representation of them. Hearing a bolt action rifle pop off in your ears in Stalker just hits so good.

You could use this in multi to hide in customs where there were large ponds and ambush people.
One of the best custom maps was this underground cave map and it was almost trench like, impossible to cross a main bridge for either side but you'd eventually break through.
Some people figured the giant cavern with the lake it had was able to be crossed and used this trick to cross it and get behind the other side of the bridge.
Then it became common knowledge to look out for, but it was still fun to try it because you couldn't see into the water.
