I remember someone actually leaked all of it on Reddit, and we didn't believe it cause we were like "Timeskip designs for every character? Yeah right".
It's a great concept too for a story to make conflict against the other classes. But because the devs didn't really expect people to play more than one route, they didn't put much effort into making it easier to replay or vary the routes enough.

However, Engage DOES highlight the problem that Fire Emblem keeps digging for itself. The gacha is out competing the main series. The gacha wins every time for people who don't care about gameplay, and just want to fawn over characters, and Fire Emblem cannot compete as a SRPG in terms of gameplay.
So they double down on what's working, which doesn't compete with the gacha, so it flops, quick, release another banner. It's a sad spiral.

My favorite gameplay experience was Cindered Shadows. I prefer the older style FEs where a unit has a specific class they can use, and not being able to literally become anything. At most, Sacred Stones was cool cause there was an alternate choice (which is what Cindered Shadows had too for everyone).
Engage feels much better to play, because IS was working on an FE engine with Unity. They really need to stop chasing that Awakening high though.

Per the developers Fire Emblem Engage wanted the appeal of Awakening and Three Houses that brought the franchise to new heights. But took absolutely no notes on why those games succeeded at what they set out to do and why those two games hit financial and critical highs for the franchise.
Right now we're in a weird spot for the franchise where barring the next game performing worse than Engage or an Echoes-tier dropoff, there's at least something of a baseline around a million. But serious discussions are probably being held on how to replicate 3H numbers. No a fucking FE4 remake that's just going to prove everybody just jacks it off because the only way to play it was through emulation and a translation patch is not going to be the winner you think it is.

If you enjoyed doing stupid grinding in Awakening, Normal mode lets you do that. It's what I did to max out every character's skill rank to S+. When you do New Game Plus, you can spend Renown to unlock class skills and ranks you've achieved previously. Hard is balanced and will take longer to do (can't grind infinitely but eventually you'll get good enough)
For the route choice, I do these recommendations, it's either between Blue Lions and Golden Deer.
Blue Lions has a straight forward focus on just your characters and the main war at hand.
Golden Deer delves into the actually history of the world and goes beyond the main war.
All routes basically cover same stuff during first half. Then you probably know about Black Eagles stuff but: It has a split choice. Default is mostly the same as the second half of Golden Deer but with a different final boss, this was the story that was originally written. And there's an alternate route which is the shortest of all of them, gives it a "DLC" feeling.
If the routes were shorter and better handled with pacing, I'd say Blue Lions then Golden Deer, but if you're not in the mood to play a 60+ hour thing more than once, go Golden Deer.

my issue with FE is that i usually like hard games, but in FE if people die it kinda makes the game less fun.
