I think there is a good argument for weapon durability, but the rate needs to be at a granular rate if it is the correct use-case for the weapon and reduced even further with regular maintenance.

BoTW is the only game I've played with WD where it wasn't a pure negative. Most of the time it's just a pointless time wasting resource drain. At the very least BoTW is designed around you getting a constant stream of equipment.
