Coming all the way back from DS1 I'd agree that using summons, stuns (like ER shackles) or ashes (unless you're doing meme builds) is pretty skippy, because the boss doesn't even focus on you and you're free to hit him and take away most of his hp without even learning his moveset but the games were always more about the pure atmosphere and exploration for me so whatever, you do you. I used Mimic Tear and shield poke and I still had a rough time. Made it much more fun though.

Kos was established in the base game by Micolash and the Orphan is just a little twist since actual Kos is in the arena.
Gael was only a who if you didn’t play AoA before RC.
Friede was alluded to in the base game but gets development in her DLC before the fight and the fight itself is long with 3 phases that help her out.
But none of that really matters. The fact still stands that all three of those fights are more fun than Radahn. I’ve replayed SOTE 5 times so far, and the only time I was remotely excited to refight Radahn was after he got nerfed and I wanted to see what they did. And it didn’t really fix my main problems with the fight (it’s a very one-note battle). Meanwhile Friede and Gael are the two best bosses in DS3 and Kos I’ve only fought twice but it was fun both times even if he one shot me in NG+ with his quicker attacks.
