Thief demonstrates the pinnacle of an up and coming industry that abruptly came to a dead end fork in the road. The game is a national treasure as far as I'm concerned. If Thief was a part of your childhood like it was mine, then you had automatically been set up for perpetual disappointment as you now well know. I was 13 and I remember being so excited about the future of the gaming industry, thinking "Wow, this is only the beginning" back in 1998. Little did my young fresh mind foresee that the beginning was actually the end. Never since has there been anything hoisted to the realm of brilliance that was delivered in this game. I'm so grateful I had this growing up in part because now that I'm getting older I realize that even If I try hard enough to push the "nostalgia factor" aside, there is no denying that opportunity knocked but once and this would never come around again.
>>715398228Now I wonder if anyone has ever made a bhop map for Thief
you didn't finish the quote, from the last thread
>I will end on a positive note in that I am happy to report the legacy of this series still lives on through fan missions over at TTLG 20 years later. So check them out if you have the time and interest because many of them are not to be missed.

>>715398228I triggered a lot of confrontations in my playthrough and never once I saw guards actively walk the opposite way and swing their sword at it.
Not calling the clip manufactured but it seems a lil cherrypicked.
>>715398760I have more webms for you to accuse as being shams or cherrypicked or whatever, all of them just from casually playing.
>>715398760All webm spammers are schizos and they're all manufactured, yes. If you don't already know this you need to lurk more.
The game breaks all by itself unless you play as timid as a mouse and never touch the jump button.

eternal reminder that you can stop any surface making noise by just tapping W in quick succession
no idea if it was intentional or not but I'd guess it wasn't considering how much it trivializes it
setting is beyond kino though
>>715397945 (OP)Gaming was ruined by normalfags. It used to be a hobby for nerds and outcasts, but now every single normie faggot is a "gamer". Not only that, but now women pretend to give a shit about video games just to ruin yet another male space. This is why if I find another hobbie I will gatekeep the fuck out of it.
>>715399528It's intentional and doesn't really trivialize much.
Be honest you all abuse bunny hopping in Thief 1.
Nothing ended after Thief, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory released and ascended the whole stealth genre.
>>715398228Okay, now try lockpicking while this is happening
>>715399440we both know you're undercover during that mission
>>715402887>zogwarslopWhat? Tom Clancy espionage is just a genre. Are you retarded? i can only imagine someone extremely leftist leaning could have an issue with it. The same kind that worshiped Hideo Kojima's garbage political commentary.
>>715397945 (OP)The 90s were the golden age of gaming
>>715399528The trade-off is that you move at a snail's pace, but yeah, it's pretty useful, the key is to never finish a full step because that's when the game registers your footsteps' noise.
Why does Eric hate Looking Glass Studios so much? They're not even alive.
>>715398228>immediately gets spotted>look how bad the game is!it's not the game that's bad, you're just playing it wrong
Any good fan missions to recommend?
