Feeling disillusionned with gaming. I'm about to quit video games.
Every "gamer" I've met in real life has been an insufferable retard. And every time I try to play video games, I associate myself with these people, and I cringe at myself.

And the online "gamers" I've met were even worse. Every gaming community that I join is filled with clowns, and I just can't associate myself with them.

It took away the magic of video games for me, and I find myself not enjoying games at all.

Is there any cure for this?

That's just because you are interacting with younger gamers
And anyone under 30 is brain-dead. Especially this generation

Just stop playing multiplayer games and stick with single player ones, the only multiplayer games I play are the ones where you don't have to interact with the other person outside of playing the game, no chat, no voice, also ignore online communities, they all fucking suck and are filled with posers and idiots.

Yeah, good thing I still have my mom's snes. I can play good old classics with no influence of online communities. I still have my ps2 too.

People who identify as gamers are insufferable

What specific behaviors and traits do these "gamers" have that make you dislike them?

They were mostly overweight, unkept beards. They were nintodrone fanboys. Bought every modern slop. There was one who was a completionist fag who bragged to everyone his trophy list. One was obnoxious and loud. They were literally playing video games during classes. Very annoying people,

I also had friends from high school that I used to play video games with. Some were pretty chill, and I'm still friends with them. But the rest were annoying posers.

I know one who was a roblox youtuber. Very annoying person. There was one who was a twitch v-tuber who streamed to 0 viewers. Most of them were the stereotypical otaku coomer weeb. Very annoying. I just can't associate with these people man.

Videogames are a hobby for emotionally handicapped people. This includes you.

have you only now realized that gaming is full of posers and secondaries?
all you can do is hide your powerlevel and learn to revel in solitude
you can always choose who to let in, but once you do, you can't easily get people to leave

Mods above, I know it's bad form to ask, but can we get help for OP? Like keeping him away from /v/idoe games for a while?

As an /asocial/, you could always play the game without interacting with the people. Perhaps interact with other people (optional). Maybe this helps.

I think that's the best advice here. I guess I'll just do that.
