Why did Sakuna suddenly become Japanese Shovel Knight and just start having crossovers with everything?
I get there's actual new Sakuna stuff being made so they want some kind of brand awareness work being done but outside of stuff with great synergy like Rune Factory, a lot of the other stuff feels like there's little discretion involved other than putting her in stuff. It's like I'm going to wake up one day and see she's being added to Call of Duty.

The important question is, can you romance sakuna?

No, it's pretty bare bones
She will plant/harvest rice for you and you can have her join your party for combat but you can't change her gear
She's basically a background NPC since she only has a few lines of dialog
I forget she is even in the game until I randomly see her working the rice fields

Don't overdo with fertilizer. You might be tempted to fill the funny triangle fully, but overabundance of nutrients leads to overgrowth and that is bad for quality.
You should also focus the fertilizers to growth stages. Root fertilizer for seedlings, kernel fertilizer while they are on 1st-3rd offshoots, leaf fertilizer when sprouting.
But that compost autism is for like your second or 3rd year when may have materials to dump into the compost pit. First year is meant to be the "what the fuck am I doing" moment for both you the player and Sakuna.

Oh, gameplay wise? Sakuna strength in combat is directly proportional to how well you do the farming aspect, the more rice you have produced the more powerful she will get, this means that if you can't beat a stage you can simply wait for a while until you get more rice to make sakuna stronger, remember to always make good use of fertilizer and make every step of the rice process yourself.

There will be a moment when sakuna will become absurdly strong, and you will literally zip around the screen killing everything with lighting fast attacks.

Also, at one point you'll get a dog that allows you to send your friends out to gather materials for crafting, cooking and compost.
As story progresses and you find more friend exclusive gathering spots, you should dedicate some time to "waste" a dog on the baby Kaimaru, who gathers literal shit, BUT at certain gathering spots after going deep enough through story he'll find additional dogs so yo ucan send more gatherers out at same time. Also some other animals can be found.

Oh, and regarding the compost autism.
Don't add fertilizer when it's about to turn to night time. The rice won't gain any stats of the additional ingredients during the night. That bit needs sunlight.
You can make compost at any time, but add it in the bright hours.
