Looks interesting but I don't think it fits my current vibe, I like traditional rpgs not first person betheslop.
>>715415910
Does it have life skills like cooking and fishing?
>>715415913
KCD is more betheslop style gaming and the rest all look like indie slop ill forget after a couple weeks.

I am a big story person, I enjoy good lore gameplay is secondary to a good story and lore dump

You try any pokemon romhacks? Clover, Unbound, or Prism are all good for a playthrough

Yeh im more into horror than I am anything else, not massive on the franchise but 7 was kinda scary and 8 means a lot to me cause it was the only game i could afford while at uni so i played it 30 times.

No, Crystal Project is a combat sim with 0 story. It has a job system a la Bravely Default. MGQ: Paradox is another one with a job system, this one has 100+ jobs and 100+ races that also act like jobs.
If you want life skills, play, Wartales also 0 story.

If you want a good story, check out:
>Expedition 33
>13 Sentinels
>Disco Elysium
>Lobotomy Corporation
>Black Souls
Cultist Simulator + Book of Hours have some fantastic writing and fascinating lore, but 0 main story and the gameplay is awful. Travelling at Night looks promising though.

I do like bravely a lot, so it could be tempting but I love when an rpg has side stuff like fishing. I spent hundreds of hours in fantasy life 1 for that reason. 13 sentinels looks good!

13 Sentinels is by Vanillaware, and their catalogue is well worth checking out. 13 Sentinels is tower defence-ish, Odin's Sphere is a beat 'em up, and Unicorn Overlord is an autobattler. I personally hate UO, but it has a sizeable fanbase here on /v/, so clearly it has SOME appeal.
The Vanillaware artist also helped make Astlibra, that one has enjoyable sidescroller gameplay that knows how to pace itself (it's one of the few games where I found grinding enjoyable) and some crazy wild plot twists. I find the actual writing amateurish, sadly, but it's still a very enjoyable game.
