It reminds me too much of an MMO. And I never was able to get into MMO's. I tried, I tried many times but never was able to pull it off. Don't be upset, I'm jealous if anything I never was able to get into an MMO. Best I ever did was City of Heroes for a month.

even the official Zodiak Age release is fucked up in one thing or another

Played through it already. Too much of a timesink to get to the good parts (endgame hunts, esper/Lucavi fights) where you have access to all of the equipment/skills/spells/gambit options that make it fun.

Plus, aren't there two or three versions TZA at this point? I think there's one where each character can only select one license board, one where you can select two, and one were you can respec later if you hate your build. Or did they patch that into all of them now?

i just finished doing a full-playthrough of it (all trials, super bosses, etc.) and it was simply 'OK'. TZA simply invalidates most of the difficulty, outside of gimmick encounters.

some annoying sections of the game, story was terrible, party members outside of 2 (maybe 3) were bad, decent music. it's a weird criticism to say, but a lot of the game just felt like i was running forward the entire time. the gambit system in theory sounds good but ends up making the player feel so passive and just holding forward on the analog stick all game.

For english speakers, TZA is the only normie way of playing the International Zodiac version of FF12 that was released only in Japan. And yeah, in TZA you are now able to respec your job boards after a patch got released early on. Dunno if that was in International Zodiac or not.

never been able to finish it despite 3 playthroughs of different versions. Even with the 4x speed option, the game is aggressively dull

I'm just after the racist bunny village, I love the setting and the world and how you run around a 3D environment and how battles just start without a fucking transition, but does the game get more complex or anything?

It's unbelievable how badly XII shits on X. Music, visuals, voice acting, characters, oh and an actual huge interconnected traversable world map to scale with beautiful and varied locales instead of selecting hallway levels from an airship. Balthier is a strong candidate for best character in the entire franchise and Fran is a goddess

None of XII's characters do anything.
Vaan is useless and only gets to play Jiminy Cricket in one scene
Penelo is completely useless and does nothing
Fraan is completely useless and does nothing (she's also a low tier waifu, you just like bunny ears)
Balthier is by far the best character in the game and even then he does fuck all besides pilot the ship and state aloud that he's the main character (lie)
Basch is completely worthless despite how much they talk him up in the early game
Ashe is the only character with any amount of plot relevance and she has all the charisma of a wooden board

Also the music is boring as shit. Any of the first 10 FF games beats it on that front easily, and yes that includes the NES games

The characters are well written, well acted, and well designed any way you slice it. Their "plot relevance", never mind your lame shortchanging of them, is ironically irrelevant. It's like saying Garrus is a shit character in Mass Effect because he doesn't advance the plot. Who cares, he's a badass and interesting character.

Also lmao @ your music take. Truly shit-tier taste. Only VII and VIII's OSTs are definitely better. X has about two good (good, not great) songs that people fixate on and think the whole OST is of that quality when it in fact is not. X has the weakest OST by miles in the mainline series. It can't hold a candle to the rich orchestral depth of XII's. X really is one of the shallowest, ugliest, tackiest popular games I've ever played

I came close to buying several of the remasters but never ended up doing so. The more I think about the game the more I realize I didn't really enjoy it. There are some good things about it but as a whole it's just not worth it.

i've played it at least thrice, i played it just last year or so, and ultimately it's not a good game for replaying that much because it's 500 years of backtracking around large zones and the optional content is very annoying with 16 conditions for it even spawning or solving cuchulains sewer puzzle which is 5 minutes of watching gate animations slowly for example
the fun part is fighting the rare spawns and hunts, but actually making them show up is tedious as fuck

FF12 is simply not a good game, let alone a good FF installment.
