Gamepass is based as fuck. Extremely customer friendly. I bought an Xbox Series S 4 years ago and have got mad value out of it. Don't always have it active/recurring but I'd say I have it active 9/12 months of the year. So easy to browse categories and see recently added

I get that it's not great for some devs but it's better than piracy so stop bitching

omg dude same!
I'm subscribed around 10/12 months I'd say and I'm getting value AS FUCK.
It's so awesome playing all the new additions to Xbox Gamepass on day 1 on my Xbox Series X (digital edition). It's value you're just not getting anywhere else.

>has gamepass permanently fucked up the industry?
I think everyone knows by now that subscription services are a scam for everyone but the people who get out early.
>Contractors using the service get stuck with a captive audience
>Good deals only last until they have customers and the competition gets driven out
>Value proposition of the company is almost entirely based on the growth of their customerbase, not their profitability
If it "ruins" the industry, then it's because the industry is already shit, because people have known for years that subscription services can't really fund a creative industry.
>is it worth getting?
No.

It is worse than piracy actually. Piracy can't advertise, so it doesn't detract from convenience related impulse purchases, but Gamepass rolls advertisement and impulse purchase into one.

Yeah, for Microsoft, but this has no effect on anyone else and is dying. Devs no longer want to put their games on their because it fails when they do, none of them are feeling the Xbox PC, the Xbox Series S is causing devs to skip the Xbox, Microsoft's multiplat strategy is causing devs to drop them, after this year there will be no more major Game Pass pushes because it's no longer on Microsoft's radar, and it looks it will crash and burn next generation. Simply put, it's better to get a Switch 2 and wait on a Steam Deck 2. I hope once the PlayStation dies, Sony Japan takes over their gaming division again even if that's a pipe dream.

Ignoring obvious piracy options for single-player titles, it does have a very big draw for two main points:
>Common multiplayer games library between friends who also subscribe (including PC-Xbox crossplay options)
It makes it very convenient when trying to pick games to play. No convincing people to buy a game, no need to buy something really expensive for just one weekend of play, just "hey, this and this are on GamePass. Let's get them installed and try them out." "Okay."
>FTP game bonuses
In my case, I have gotten two rounds of exclusive cosmetics and digital currency, as well as a sizeable 25% BP xp boost in The Finals, which I like playing regularly. In V*lorant (which a buddy nagged me to install), I get to try all of the agents and see what I like while also getting an xp boost (I think 20%?). Other games have Game Pass bonuses too. It's not like you have to keep subbed forever to claim certain bonuses either.

All that said, if you want to not feel rushed for single-player experiences...I think it's better to hit your backlog or buy on a sale, key site, etc.

Xbox has been phased out of Europe and the middle east, so it's not all sunshine and rainbows.

Yeah GamePass is almost too good to true. It's an unsustainable model and the bubble will probably burst in a few years but I'm enjoying while I can.

Can't believe anons are paying $70 each for Indiana Jones, Doom Dark Ages, E33, Oblivion Remastered and Avowed. I played them all for the price of a cheese burger on GamePass.

Goypass is based af, there are a lot of good games there. I will buy a PS5 though for the timed exclusives and not buy the goypass relevant subscription service for PS, the games they put there are 90% shit.

Aside from the first party day one stuff it mostly just gets small indie games, games that were already sold for 12+ months and would be 50% off anyway OR games that are multiplayer focused and thus that online games player base gets a significant boost to numbers by being free on game pass thus helping the health of the game.

So I dunno how it "hurts" the industry in any way. There's occasionally a small number of big 3rd party titles that they'll add at launch which is always nice but it's not all the time.

Nah, valve innoculated the entire pc audience because everyone who uses steam buys games they don't play and already has a backlog that is more appealing than this expensive monthly subscription.
