Did you play battle bros?
What were your favorite builds?
Anonymous No.715421726
I played it, but it gets a bit repetitive once you get a good band

the worst aspect of xcom (percentage hit rates) with none of the options from xcom to mitigate said aspect. absolutely terrible design.
Anonymous No.715422364
I did. Enjoyed it enough to dump over a thousand hours in.
At some point, think i had a couple Crossbow/Polearm hybrids in every company, high versatility and damage build that uses all 9 ap every turn. Very neat.
But nothing put a smile on my face like a fearsome bro - be it a sword duelist or a huge flail bro bashing heads in.

Ill bite the bait >>715421773
If any of your bros survive long enough to surround an enemy in combat, you gain higher hit chance bonus per bro on the surround. After battles, surviving bros can gain levelups that allow you to train their combat skills and unlock perks for them, wich there are several that increase hit chance.
Give game a new try. It can be pretty good

Great game with a tremendous OST, but sandbox nature precludes it from reaching wider appeal. Also, some people are deadset on hating the way it looks. Using only busts for units was clearly done to show off more detailed armor.

My most memorable memory was making a lone wolf that was capable of swinging 360 with an axe and killing everyone around him in one go on ironman difficulty. So much autistic grinding. I wouldn't do that these days, I'd prefer to make some kind of busted fencer/swordmaster thing and build the rest of the company around them

I love how open ended lone wolf campaigns can be, you can build him any way you want and pull off some real heroics.
Ultra lategame is a pain in the ass with the 12 member limit tho...

I'm playing it right now. But I just can't take it if a bro dies (especially to BS = unlucky rolls) and savescum.

you should gamble at the casino and threaten to kill the dealer when you lose your 50% chance of winning hand

After about twelve hours spread across a few weeks I gave up. Was never able to figure it out or what perks I should take for each brother. I could've looked the information up or just pulled up my bootstraps but I stopped caring. Wonder music. Glad I played it but I don't wanna play it again.

no but I WILL kill him if I have an 80% 4 times in a row and still fail, whilst the other guy wins instantly with a 10% chance

Your first 20 hours should be spent reading guides.

That sounds like the worst thing ever. I'm not saying it isn't worth it, just not for me. I'll still listen to it's soundtrack thanks for that Battle Brothers.

A good deal of BB dificulty is wiki knowledge checks. So, jump out if you think this sucks (i agree) and be happy.

wikis and guides are always shortcuts. intended way is to lose ten or so games and gradually build up your knowledge on what works.

Guides are for nerds. You got it fren. Have the confidence to trust yourself.
It took me a good two dozen hours to come to the realisation that i may level melee attack above 60 and stop using spear/shield on every bro.
You probably know this by now but the best tips in BB for any skill level player are:
Use daggers -puncture- to get armor off enemies.
Dont be afraid to be a villain. Picking fights with other mercenaries, caravans or a smaller houses is a good way to accelerate company growth, get some decent medium or heavy armors and high grade weapons.

I have had a few campaigns where geting an early tier4 weapon off a mercenary/sargeant completely slingshoted the company into power and wealth.

I savescummed my way through a fun peasant start game where I just had a shit ton of dudes so losing one didn't hit as hard.
Then I took the training wheels off and just rolled with the punches in my cultist run, probably my most succesful run on normal settings without savescumming but I never figured out how to bounce back from losses in this game. Since the world/contracts around you scale with renown and time, losing your best dudes in a fight and starting from scratch seems impossible to me, it's a downwards spiral. If there are any comeback mechancis, I'm not aware of them.
Then there's also this weird meta game where players know exactly how enemy scaling works and accept conracts before hiring dudes so the next fight will have fewer enemies since enemy numbers scale off of your dude amount when you accept a contract or something.
In the end I just installed a few mods that make the game much easier and then had fun with it.
