Ever heard of diminishing returns? Even the most paypiggy tech-cultists abandoned 8k because theres no point for 99% of usecases. And that's for televisions. Most PCs are connected to monitors, which are smaller by nature. 27" is too small to need 4k unless you sit your face glued to the monitor.

Why did the industry jump right to 2160p and push so hard for it when there's such little noticable difference from 1440p to 2160p? 1440p is easier to run, you get better performance. And it's near indistinguishable from 4K.

For TVs, unless you are playing 4k blurays, 4k is a meme because streaming services generally don't give you real 4k anyway.

Have you seen a 1440p and 2160p image side by side? You have to squint and zoom in to even see a difference. It is the point of diminished returns.

The leaps from other resolutions are all huge and noticable until you get to 4K where the difference is so negligible it doesn't even matter.

Problem with resolutions inbetween 4k and 8k is they have a relatively niche use - they mostly make sense in vidya terms for providing improved AA at monitor sized screens. For TVs something like 5k or 6k (well, resolutions we could call as such) it simply isn't enough to provide an impactful jump in image clarity.

It's not about games.
On a 27" 1440p screen, you need to set the scaling to 125% so everything doesn't look tiny, but the downside is that non-game programs would look blurry because they are simply stretched to be 25% bigger.

1440p is a shitty stopgap poorfag cope.

1440p -> 4k is a far bigger upgrade in pixel density than 1080p -> 1440p, plus 4k looks way better with legacy 1080p content due to scaling.

240Hz 4k OLED monitors are only like $1000 so you have no excuse unless you're just ultra-poorfag

The same cope was said when people pushed higher resolutions than 720p televisions and when monitors went from millions of colors to billions.

200% UI scaling in Windows is already integer scaling for 4k and gives you the exact same size UI comparatively as 100% on 1080p...

4k is just a 2x2 grid of 1080p, and that's what 200% scaling does, increases both x and y to 200%

The main problem with gaming is movement.

A screen that is 1440p 120 hz will have more clarity then 4k 60hz.

720p isn't that much different from 1080p especially when you add AA and other options. 1080p on a monitor or smaller tv is just fine. A large living room TV is where 4K is a real difference.
