as someone who played hl1 and hl2 on release, i found hl2 to be disappointing and still don't understand why so many think it's the greatest game ever

Old School Runsecape isn't even Old School Runsecape. I remember when Runescape was 2d pixels and the 3d shit was the "new" version that people disliked. So imagine my surprise when people started talking up this "old school" version of Runescape, saying it was so much better than modern Runescape. I go check it out and find out its the fucking 3D update version. Fuck off.

I played some RS1 and I have to say it's pretty shitty. No music, no chatheads, no animations, shitty interface, and so many of the skills are just nothing. I get some PVP autists might legitimately miss its combat but RS2 is just so much better.

Woke shit aside, they fixed a lot of issues from the 2D and early 3D days of the game, with the biggest thing being the quests. They redid a lot of the really shitty fetch quests so they're actually somewhat interesting instead of just talking to one NPC, then talking to another, then another, then another, and then yet another. Being able to check your quest log to see what items were needed for a quest was a nice addition as well. It always felt like a big fuck you when you were in the middle of a quest or approaching the finale and just had to drop whatever the fuck it was you were doing and run to the bank or general store because it turned out you needed a bucket of water, a pot, or some other random item.

My first MMOs were ROSE Online and WoW. I could never tolerate Runescape if I tried. Looked like shit back then, looks like shit now.

I played Runescape when Jagex still had shitty rip off games on their site alongside it.
And runescape was kinda stupid back then too.

You know how you would mine for ore and such? Anything extra you mine if your inventory was full would automatically drop to the floor and your character would continue mining as if nothing happened. Fishing spots and Veins didn't disappear either back then so you could just sit there until lvl 99.
They had an afk timer to kick you if you was inactive for 5 minutes but it was easy to trick.
It was very common to see people doing this non-stop until the Stamina introduction.
It wasn't bad or anything, just early Runescape jank and the poor attempt at trying to fix it.
