I'm mainly just waiting for new games, third parties are extremely disappointing, I actually think this is the worst third party situation I've ever witnessed, what they have is already on deep discount literally everywhere else, and literally not a single one has announced a game of any actual value.
Nintendo are pretty disappointing too, I'm just playing Tears of the Kingdom, then hopefully Donkey Kong keeps me going for a week or two, after that I've literally got nothing, Nintendo are slack on the updates, third party updates are completely non-existent.
I like the hardware but software support is really bad, fuck third parties.

I haven't bought one yet, I have no opinions on it.

Original opinion: I like MKW and I like how it coexist with 8, both mario kart, both different games. Popping in 8 for something different keeps my copy relevant.
Played pokemon violet on it(first time) liked it, still have like 10 games in my backlog from switch 1,most of them needing the better performance(zelda, bayo3) so I'm happy with it.
Coming from the oled, the screen sucks to my eyes, can really see the blur. In combination with ingame motion blur its a lot. Battery life also sucks a fat cock. Pokemon violet also drains it in 2 hours or so.
So where I have to charge my oled every 2 days, I'm charging my switch 2 sometimes 2 times a day.

All in all, pretty positive, but it feels like a gpu upgrade. Shit runs better now and better res, ok, good. But not wowy zowy.

My thoughts is that I haven't really enjoyed Mario Kart at all since Mario Kart Double Dash. I tried Mario Kart on the Wii. And I played way more Mario Kart 8 than I should have. Though I never got MK8D because I wasn't really having fun with MK8.

But I have had a lot of fun with World. I might still have my biases towards Double Dash. But with MKWii and MK8 I really just felt like the games were pretty much just straight downgrades of Double Dash. With World I kind of feel like the game is for better or worse different enough to be enjoyed in its own way for its own sake. And I am having a lot of fun.
It is fun to bounce on the walls and rails. I like being able to jump in my kart racers in general.

Beyond Mario Kart I'll say that I've enjoyed playing NS1 games with improved performance a fair bit more than I thought I would. But that was not why I bought an NS2. I can't say I think it's important but it's undeniably nice.
What I am really excited for though is Bananza, Splatoon, and Metroid Prime and whatever else is to come. That's why I bought the system.
For that and for 3rd parties that I'd prefer on the Switch over my PC, like Shadow Labyrinth, Hades2 1.0, and Silksong or whatever else. That Digimon Story Time Stranger game if the leak is to believed to be true and if the NS2 version doesn't launch months after PC, in which case I'll just get it on PC anyway.

I am pretty happy with it. Unless Bananza is somehow way worse than expected, which I kind of doubt, then all is good. I even enjoyed Welcome Tour and trying to get all the medals. Which was not something I expected to enjoy.

My first Switch broke because I left it docked while barely playing it for like a year and a half back in 2023-2024. Instead of fixing it I opted to get the Switch 2 to replace it. I can barely tell the difference beyond there actually being games I want to play on it again. The name "Switch 2" is very literal because it just feels like another Switch.

Surprisingly became my main machine for Fantasy Life i. play it at my desk while listening to music.

I think there's only been one day since I bought it that I haven't played it, and that was because I spent all day at the beach and I didn't want to get sand all over it. That said, I haven't played Mario Kart World since about a week after launch, I've mostly been shiny hunting in Pokemon Scarlet.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is an objectively bad video game console that only objectively bad people buy. Nobody with friends has a Switch 2.

My old switch 1 was on its last legs so i went ahead and got one, in large part to play MKW with the /v/eekend thread guys. It's fine so far, the quality of the hardware, the way the joycons feel ext is better than i was led to believe by the many review videos i watched. It seems like people have gained a mob mentality against Nintendo due to the price thing. That's the only reason i can think of for such a large discrepancy between what i was told absolutely everywgere and what i have experienced. the Joycons run no risk of coming off while playing in handheld mode and feel less wobbly than switch 1, ive had no drift or overheating ect. The only single issue i and several other people have had in the /v/eekend threads is communication errors while trying to play MKW online via wifi. that does happen sporadically even though the singal was strong, high bandwidth and my swotch 2 was pretty close to the router, i simply rand a cat6 cable to it.
I've revisitef a lot of switch 1 games on the switch 2 and had no crashes or performance problems, load times are shorter and ghe games all run smooth including Brothership. I'm just biding my time waiting for Nintendo to drop more fun online experiences, which is what i mainly play modern nintendo gqmes for. Things like Mario 35, Tetris 99, Super Kriby Clash, Smash, etc. It's taking a bit longer than i would like but we didnt start getting stuff like that on the Switch 1 until the mext calendar year after release so for now it's mostly MKW for me. Which i also find to be much more fun than i was led to believe and easily the most skill based mario kart to date. I do not like the way it looks, especially the anti soul gas and washed out colors compared to 8 deluxe, qnd the water tracks aren't fun, but they are the minority. I enjoy the intermission tracks and the best part is they tend to blow baggers the f out. Whe you are actually playing the courses don't feel too wide either.

Post game is treasure troves and Ginomorsia grind. Ginomorsia doesn't get interesting until you level up areas to 5 or higher. That's when the treasure trove bosses appear post update. Even then you're looking at level 70+ areas. So take your time in treasure troves collecting what you need. Also the desire sensor is bad if you're looking for a specific thing.

It's my dream machine at the moment. Plays all my Switch 1 games at a better frame rate, I'm now in the newer ecosystem with switch 2 games, Pro 2 controller can finally be used with my Sony Noise cancelling headphones and best of all I use it in conjunction with my Switch OLED for games that have problems on the Switch 2 and as a secondary Device to play my more storage demanding games on. I fucking love it, and I bought a PC with an i7 14700kf, 32GB DDR5 6000mhz RAM and a GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC in 2024.

I don't play anything on the PC, but it will run all PS5 games better and it would be able to emulate Switch 2 if we could, at 60fps 4K if I wanted to.

But I hate PC gaming. It sucks, and I love the Switch 2, because it makes me feel way more happy because Nintendo just does that to me.

It's fucking amazing, an objective improvement to the Switch in almost every way imaginable, faster OS, faster booth up, faster load times, faster everything, don't play in handheld much so I don't really know much about this screen blurriness thing, but on boot up it felt like holding up pretty well when compared to my OLED and the 1080p screen absolutely made a world of difference, the Joy-Con 2 is also far more comfortable than the first ones, it makes the handheld grip actually tolerable, but again, I'm mostly a docked Chad, so my primary experience has been on my 4K TV with the Pro 2, which is the best controller I've ever held in my hands.

As for the games, Mario Kart World is indeed amazing, I'm glad I didn't bought into the negative hype, Intermission tracks aren't actually "straight lines" as haters like to throw around and they become extra challenges for what I consider to be the best improvement overall when compared to 8DX: Movement, the game plays like a dream, the trick system has been improved to perfection, and grind/wall riding ended up being WAY more fun than I expected.

DK Banana also seems like a certified classic so I'm looking forward to it, Hogwarts Legacy also finally runs at a decent performance and doesn't have load times between transitions, which is all it needed and gives me the confidence that this things can actually handle modern 3rd party ports. Finally, the enhanced Switch 1 experiences have been an absolute blessing, TOTK at 60fps and the App were such strong additions that it finally compelled me to 100% that game.

I can understand someone thinking $80 for certain games is ridiculous, but how is it that some people think the console itself is too expensive? It isn't much more expensive than any other console on the market.

Nigga, it is cheaper by a country mile. Graphic cards are out of control with VRAM being the biggest e-waste accelerator. A PS5 with a disc drive and Switch 2 both cost 450 dollars. A prebuilt PC with the RTX 4060/5060 8gb (worthless) are $1,100 everywhere, I've checked the most recent prices online and in-person. If you build it yourself that's 800 dollars and you're running AMD GPU (kek). It's not like the old days where you could make a potato PC build and throw in any GPU to kill a console in the early 2010s.

Does it? I've never heard about PS4 games on PS5 running better aside from games that specifically got updated for it. I had only heard about PS3 games getting that out of the box emulation boost treatment. Conversely, I also didn't hear many complaints about the backwards compatibility, either. Most people I know that own a PS5 say they're happy enough using it to play their PS4 games without the hard drive or loud fans.

No, they're BANNING consoles. Banned consoles still function, they just don't have access to online services. You can still update your console, play games offline or play games that don't use Nintendo's servers (like Fortnite), but you lose access to the eShop, most online games and the friends list. Bans are reversible and you can get your console unbanned if you're able to prove with evidence that there was no foul play involved. All of this works exactly the same way it did on the Switch 1. I've been really enjoying it. Mario Kart World is a great game that feels like a good evolution of the series mechanics. The open world is kind of pointless and its not worth $80, but the addition of rail grinding and charge jumping has made online races really fun.

I've also been playing BotW with the new update, and it feels awesome. I just killed the Lynel on the plateau before getting the paraglider. Pic related.

Borderlands 3 is broken on the Switch 2. I wanted it to be my primary way to play the game from now on since it locks near the 60 fps but it's just a mess on Switch 2. Great launch sadly I believe they were using the Switch back-compat/SW2 Editions as a crutch while they finish more games like Bananza.

Besides that, MK World is a great game full of content, but I wish it had 2 or 4 more traditional cups, I don't really care that much about the Open World.

was really loving mario kart world for the first two weeks. i played it like crazy. 60 hours in two weeks. nintendo killed the online and i haven't had any desire to play it since. ive been playing totk in 60fps and im having way more fun than i did when it came out. at the time i was annoyed that it seemed like botw all over again instead of a new game but that isn't bothering me now and i think the games great.
the screen is truly terrible and i honestly feel like i was tricked after nintendo touted the 120hz display and hdr and stuff. they really gave the impression that the screen was good but i noticed the blurry screen after 5 minutes of playing mario kart. it reminds me of an old LCD monitor i had 15 years ago. it really is awful.
battery life is not bad if you turn off wifi and hdr and rumble and turn down the brightness a bit. lasts about 3 and a half hours on mario kart and zelda.
was also genuinely surprised to see old switch1 games running with solid performance and load times cut in half. there are a bunch of games that didn't get update patches that still run and look better than on the old switch.

they did this intentionally to stop people choosing random. it isn't random at all. it's designed to make people choose one of the courses already on screen, and those are open world courses 80% of the time.
i played 60 hours of online before the update and about 10 since.
before the update you got open world courses 50% of the time and 3 lap tracks 50% of the time. now you spend 80% of your time online playing open world sections. and it's not fun.

Yes, because before, the random button didn't allow you to select anything other than three lap courses that are not even presented in the selection screen, now it can also pick up one of those three tracks, which can either all be intermissions, or it can also have a separate three lap track, therefore the selection actually allows for intermissions tracks to appear more often, which is way less restrictive and more random than it was before.

It's actually been this way since Wii U and it got grandfathered into the Switch. The Wii U had Bluetooth 4.0 for whatever fucking reason but not a CPU powerful enough to support its own GPU.

It leads to this weird situation where a modded Wii U with Aroma is capable of connecting to all kinds of modern wireless controllers, like a PS5 controller, even though the console itself is basically a 7th generation console masquerading as an 8th generation console.

I had a switch 2 but exchanged it for a PS5, I only had a Steam deck and a laptop with a 3050ti that I got on a steep sale. I don't have anyway to play 3rd party modern games and I felt that $450 for a handheld to play only Nintendo games wasn't worth it. Also doesn't help that most 3rd party (especially Japanese games) are opting for key cards.

Has anyone here tried Touhou Artificial Dream in Arcadia on Switch 2 yet? I'd like to play it on Switch 2 but I'm concerned there could be compatibility issues.
