Deus Ex isn't even that complex. Your brain would probably fry trying to play System Shock 1. Just upgrade the Pistol skill if you wanna play it like an FPS.

Just play the game, get the laser sight on the first level, put it on your 10mm pistol and headshot regular guards for instant kills. It doesn't matter if you play lethal or non-lethal, the only difference is getting a few extra bullets for common guns and slightly different dialogue. The speed augmentation and regeneration are the best.

The gameplay isn't overly complex. What you can do with it can be complex but the game's rules are crystal clear as long as you sit down and learn what does what. The largest problem new players encounter with deus ex at first is aiming and accuracy. But you have many tools not to go gun blazing at your first mission and you can invest points to progressively make you into a sharpshooter.

Zoomer here, just beat the game a few days ago. It's more than worth your time. It will feel rough at first but all you need to know is
>level up pistol no higher than advanced
>level up computers because you'll be reading a LOT of emails and want the extra time to do so
>also you can reprogram turrets with a high computer skill
And if you're the type to check every corner of the map

Don't be afraid to use the GEP gun or other explosives as an improvised lockpick.
Being at least trained with low tech (melee) allows you to knock out anyone with the baton, make sure to aim for the upper back because the head hitbox is broken I think.
Don't rely on YT videos, read the in-game notes, look at the images tab for any maps or evidence you've found, or go back and read through previous conversations if you think you missed something

The default controls are jank and combat is deliberately awkward until you level up.
That's all far as zoomer filters. The gameplay is deep but not complicated.

I level up just enough to break into the system and then I screenshot everything so I can read the mails in peace.

Stealth is op, only the baton and prod are useful because every lethal weapon makes the guards scream even if you make a stealth takedown. Shoot a dart behind an enemy and run at him with a baton/prod, he will ignore your footsteps and look at the place where the dart landed. If you run out of prod charges then use sleep darts to do a "headshot backstab" which increases the base damage by 80 times. You also get a bullet resistance aug which will save you from a stray pistol bullet on realistic which would instakill you. Also you can find quite a few bulletproof vests, they are really useful if you level up your environmental skill which is really cheap to upgrade, they should last you long enough to clear an area from most enemies. Oh and also pick the GEP gun at the start of the game from Paul, you can get every other weapon he offers from the NSF enemies in the first level.

No, it was supposed to appear in the game but it got ultimately cut, just don't be an asshole and offer help to people and you should be golden.

It's strange how they don't let you swap upgrades. There's enough canisters to get them all so it seems like it was something they considered at some point. Though maybe the extra canisters are just there to give players more opportunities to find them in case they aren't exploring.
