>>715463153 I probably would've gone into card-collecting rabbit hole if the ones I want is easily obtainable over here. All people play are just Pokemon and Yugioh
>>715461560 (OP) I was thinking about getting some collab MtG cards but I stopped myself in favor of buying the Hololive TCG stuff instead since that released three days ago.
>>715465373 Paper EDH is pretty popular right now. I was off work a few fridays ago and there were people just sitting around playing, even at lunch time. I'd never actually give WOTC money, but I don't care to pay some chinks $20 to print me a deck.
>>715470157 MTG like all card games is pay 2 win yeah. MTG arena is the online client, it's comparatively a lot cheaper, and it automatically handles weird rules interactions you'd otherwise have to look up in paper.
>>715461560 (OP) I bought this Miku for $5. She's intensely gorgeous. It's making me want to make a White deck now after only ever playing green/red all my life.
>>715468169 The official tarot cards have been out for a while.

>>715471146 White is very strong now a days in commander. It used to be crap but WOTC made it a point to push white hard the past few years. It outdraws every color except maybe blue at this point.
>>715470157 You can put together a decent commander deck for like $50 and play that forever if you want. The big money comes from buying a ton of different decks.

>>715472352 Oh, she's a planeswalker. You can't use those as your commander unless their text specifically says so. Brawl lets you use commanders, but nobody plays that outside MTG arena, and I'm not sure if that miku is on arena.
>>715463873 >All people play are just Pokemon and Yugioh Are you just going to card shops? Magic is usually played at home with your friends these days. Pokemon and yugioh are still mostly played at game shops because the people who play them usually dont have as many friends.

Oh well. I haven't played Magic in a long while anyway so I'm not bummed.
>>715472784 You can still put her in the 99 of a white commander deck, so it's not like she's unplayable. Some of the other mikus are creatures so they can be commanders, but their art doesn't look nearly as good.

>>715463153 Collecting cards is supposed to be a fun little autistic pastime since cards, as small pieces of paper, should be cheap as shit. I still miss playing MTG in the 90's when someone using a $20 dual land was comically expensive. I play Arena now to actually play the game since I can f2p it fine but I do miss rifling through a pile of cards, just can't justify the price

>>715472963 That one definitely isn't as pretty but I think it still looks cool overall because of the style and colors. The face is ok from afar. Only problem is she seems like a way worse commander.
There's no excuse for Miku, Lost but Screaming or Miku, Voice of Penis though. I don't know what the fuck they were thinking with those two.
Do these Secret Lairs even get more people into MTG or is it retaining the same level of popularity? I know they're definitely trying to get the anime audience.
>>715473563 They're supposedly making more money than ever so god knows if that's due to increased interest and new blood or if it's just gigajew (((investors))) buying everything and selling it to themselves until they realize no one is actually playing any more and it collapses
>>715473786 >there's a fucking princess bride set I had no idea all this Universe Beyond stuff started in 2020. I thought it was just the Secret Lairs.
They should change the name from Magic: The Gathering at this point.

>>715473449 Feather (the card she is a copy of) is actually the second most popular commander in those colors. It's kind of a "voltron" commander, where you play feather and then sit on a bunch of buffs/protections and fly over people. Very hard to kill since your protection spells go back to your hand every turn.
>>715472991 I mean not really since just about every card is printed in multiple rarities.

>>715475134 What, like with Urza? I guess that's true. I can't exactly articulate why it feels off when they hop into worlds/universes that are pre-existing IPs instead of wholly original concepts. Maybe if those IPs acknowledged random Planeswalkers on their side as well it wouldn't be so weird.
>>715474417 I'd just search up budget decks for feather the redeemed and see what comes up. Good news is most protection spells are dirt cheap, so its 100% a budget friendly commander.
