im gonan guess some personal shit happened in his life, wife left him, kids dont care about him, mid life crisis type shit, and he latched onto this identity politics shit. its hard to tell without knowing more about the man but these kinds of drastic changes in people dont just happen out of nowhere, they typically come from very difficult things happening in their life.
