The artstyle is great and it's the first time Fire Emblem has looked in 3D. For both characters and environments.
What you don't like isn't the artstyle, it's design of characters such as Alear or whatever. Which is different from the artstyle.

This meaning what? Engage is rated T on the ESRB and B on the CERO rating. That means the target audience is 12 years old and up. If said 12 year old was given a Fire Emblem game that was itself 12 years old. That would put it at Fire Emblem 6. So nobody is going to know who the fuck any character older than Roy is. And that's an extreme example. More likely they'd only know Roy from Smash Bros. Who the fuck is Leif? What the fuck is a Sigurd? Didn't Shadow Dragon fucking bomb? Or is Marth also a Smash Bros character.

Claiming that the Emblems are a selling point always comes off as nonsense to me. Nintendo doesn't sell most of these games. Are they just admitting that everyone plays on emulator? How big of a subset is that audience compared to regular people who just bought the game? I don't think the Emblems being previous Fire Emblem heroes made any sense.

people got meme'd into believing that FE was Game of Thrones like after 3 Houses but Nintendo never pretended this was the case, so even if Engage's gameplay and visuals are more polished than 3 Houses the simple epic tale of good vs evil wasn't appealing enough and there was also this campaign about the visuals that made no sense but got loud enough.

That's worse! That means no one knows anyone older than Corrin. So of the possible 12 Emblems, reasonably, the target audience would only know 3 of them: Corrin, Celica, and Byleth. What the fuck is a Ephraim?
