In my setting in order to cast magic you need to channel your "mana" through your "conductive" limbs that have had their nerves evolve in a way that made them capable of focusing channeling your "mana". And if you use the same limb too many times in a short amount of time - it risks overexerting and receiving severe nerve damage, putting you into great pain and making it much harder to continue casting spells. So there are even magical martial arts developed around a balanced use of both your arms and legs in spell-casting.
I think it's a neat idea for a fancy "bender" type magic system that makes enough sense.
