because Nintendo of America worked very hard to cultivate a 'family friendly' image that isn't there in Japan. They basically tell Treehouse to ensure everything is as safe and inoffensive as possible, to keep it on brand with stuff like Mario and Animal Crossing.

the Fire Emblem dev team kinda operates independently of Nintendo proper, Nintendo Japan doesn't keep them on very tight of a lead. There is a very real possibility that the people responsible for checking over the Treehouse scripts never actually read the original Japanese, so if they kept stuff like child marriage in they would assume Treehouse was trying to pull a fast one. Treehouse staff don't want to risk their jobs over it, so they just do what they're told.
