Wasn't vr supposed to be the next big step for gaming? What happened?

pretty much. Not only is VR expensive but it also requires a lot of free space in your home
chances are if you're a poorfag that can barely afford VR, you probably don't have a lot of free space in your tiny shithole apartment either. that treadmill in OP is a solution but it probably costs thousands of dollars and is very jank too

Not that I have any interest in it, I'd just love immersionfags to collectively leave the traditional gaming sphere, so there can be a somewhat sense of return to normalcy

Normal people have bad taste, but they generally don't like to act like complete morons.
VR is an inherently silly technology. You have to wave your hands around in the air like an idiot in a poor simulation of reality. It's like playing air guitar or something.

It was the tech demos for me. I was an early VR adopter because I had a ton of space at the time and it was perfect for the max range of the tracking.

That said, 99% of the "games" were standing in one spot playing with toys or just looking around. Most of the actual games were just VR mods of older games that usually made you motion sick.

Penumbra in VR was chill as fuck though.

Because it hasn't obtained its goal and the market base for it isn't large enough to warrant publishers to push for big games for it. Half Life Alyx spawned potential but after a while it died out.

The entire goal of VR is total immersion. People know this, devs know this, everyone knows this. So people either see just the headset and controllers which appears lame or not worth it, or they see all the equipment made for it and then the 10K+ price tag to get all that equipment and nope the fuck out (especially because it's all the most rudimentary forms of immersion, such as pressure pads to simulate feeling).

Until VR involves plugging your brain directly into a program to the point where you can't tell the difference, it isn't going to kick off in any real manner. It is the next giant leap in video game tech (like going from 2D to 3D), but we are far from it.

I think vr should focus less on motion controls and more on being a 3d tv strapped to your head the most fun I've had in vr is modding games to be vr through reshade or other stuff.
>>715469656
Nothing for VR because there's simply nothing to buy. Most stuff that I want is still above 20 bucks and whenever the sales go on I pick up flat games and just mod them to VR because there still is no dedicated VR games than can compete. The game I've been waiting on Into the Radius 2 still hasn't dropped enough in price to justify a purchase.

I bought a VR headset to play Alyx and some other shit around that time.

It's a super fun novelty for a while, but quickly the issues start to arise.
I don't want to come home from work and strap a monitor to my face and then move my ass around until it's hot and I have goggle indentations on my face. That alone turned it into more of a weekend activity.
Then the fact that all the games are so shit and similar. There aren't that many interactions that actually feel good in VR so every game has to reuse them endlessly. You either play a shooting game or a melee combat game and either one is going to have glitchy jank you have to put up with and "woooah I opened this box and took the item out of it with my hand" can only be an exciting novelty for so long

Not him but over the 2years of player VR I actually gained about 8kgs. 2months ago I hit 70kg and fucking hated myself for it so I did a lot of water fasting and I'm back down to 65 now.
I exclusively only play games standing up and a lot of quest sloppa as well. I don't think you burn that much calories waggling around for normal games and a 1hr intense thrill of the fight sessions isn't enough to make a dent.
As usual weight loss is in the kitchen.

I'm very thin not frail but 160 5'11 fatties can't VR and you have a time limit even if you're my weight where it'll cause headaches and vertigo with extended use. I don't know if you've played it for 2 weeks or more every day for over 3 hours but for me it eventually causes a ache behind my dominant eye and I'm forced to reduce playtime to every other day.

Whilst we are on the subject Blood and Truth on the PSVR is the best thing I experience playing lots of partly good and half broken stuff on that. You can smoke a vape or cigar in it using the mic it was surreal because I didnt expect it to actually know I was breathing in. That and pull out grenade ring with your teeth before throwing it. Only reason to buy the VR then sell it after.

No you don't get sick from moving, you get sick from the world moving around you when you're standing still. Because you have a function brain that identifies a malfunction in this scenario and tries to purge the poison in the system by making you puke. But I guess not everyone does, some brains just don't give a fuck if the signals they receive are incomprehensible and chug along. Why bother making sense of reality when your IQ is only high enough to think about eating and shitting

At the end of the day, it's just another way to play games. Definitely hard to go back to flat-screen for fps and simulators though

Apart from the massive price, who would lock themselves up with the machine with almost no way seeing your surroundings? If you have a pet or even live with anyone else, it's completely impractical to say the least.

I see it the same as guitar hero, where it's huge in it's niche audience but 10 years later its a piece of plastic collecting dust.

What the fuck are you secondaries coping about? We fucking told you VR was piece of shit gimmick decade or something ago. Keyboard, monitor, mouse combination is 10000000 times more convenient and player input is so much fucking better. You can actually play and immerse yourself in games efficiently. VR literally has wii controllers. WII fucking controllers!!! And you niggers all worship gabe jewell and call yourselves PC gamers. HAH. More like Consoleturd secondaries coping and sneeding. Play a classic game on hard difficulty for once you casuals (Won't happen cuz you can't even type without looking at keyboard)

not realistic enough.
until VR gets to a point where its indistinguishable from your own POV, it will never be widely adopted.
if it does get to that point and you can't tell it's VR anymore, there's a good chance its used to condition/pseudo-brainwash people and every company will try to get in on it.

it's doing just fine, the tech is developing and it's getting better every year
it will never be mainstream but it doesn't have to be
most people don't have the space for it anyway since we live in a capitalistic hell world

modern vr hasn't really progress much beyond the camera is now fixed to your head movement and being slightly more immersive. immersion has a limited amount of appeal when most games don't cost an extra 500 dollars and require you to physically move your head around constantly to move the camera. In addition to that, body movement outside of your arms still hasn't been figured out. There isn't a good way to emulate the torso, and figuring out how to incorporate leg movement is a huge problem and the best solution, sadly is the treadmill in your video.

most vr porn can be watched on a normal screen.
