Unironically a great trope regardless of real life family dynamics, because bonding with people on a deep level and having a feeling of belonging is an important human craving.
I personally got 0 love from either of my parents, but even if I did I'd still appreciate these kinds of tropes in media due to their inherent value. Knowing there are people who understand you, care about you and have your back (blood related or not) is one of the best feelings in this world.
