Nostalgia is powerful. When I was a kid, I lived part of the year on a farm. Once, as an adult living in the big city, my neighbor went to fix the septic tank at her house, and that smell of shit came wafting through the air, and I felt fucking nostalgic for my old life because I remembered the smell of cattle and pig manure from a fucking septic tank full of feces.

to be fair, old mobile games were akin to flash games you'd see on sites like newgrounds or armor games
they also weren't nearly as ad-ridden; you could play for a solid 15-30 minutes before getting an ad depending on the game, plus the ads always played during downtime like between rounds of an arcade game, instead of in the middle of the game.
