Anywhere that isn't America or Western Europe is basically totally irrelevant for normal AAA and AA video games. They might as well not even make video games available at all outside of America, Western Europe, and Japan.

Because you're poor but not everyone else in your country is. The point of regional pricing initially was to adjust the prices of video games to what the local buyer can afford vs other goods. Because 60 dollars is not the same value in other countries. For example here in japan, 60 dollars is roughly 1/20th the average salary of a professional. But in a third world country like SEA, 60 dollars is 1/5th of their monthly salary.

Regional pricing is the Valve Suggested Price there, but Sony didn't follow it. The actual price is double what the suggested regional price is, which is what the jeet is complaining about. Instead of getting the game for 2400 whatevers, they need to shell out 4799. AAA companies rarely follow regional pricing. They can get away with it since they're popular enough that "you'll buy it anyway." You can see the converted price for most regions is still near 60 dollars and the suggested price differentials are all in the red.

Also, in a way, regional pricing worked because the only way to legally change store fronts is to buy or top up your account using a credit/debit card using that region's currency while also being physically in that region, at least what the IP detects you being in i.e. to access cheap Philippine pricing, you have to be in the Philippines using mastercard/visa that was issued in any of the banks in the Philippines.
This method actually helped more people buy games. But now it doesn't, which is why everyone company is now bitching why people aren't buying new games anymore and just sticking to live service f2p or games that bought many years ago.

But they changed their policy because russians were using regional pricing to one up steam and resell steam games for cheap. That's how the concept of sites like GMG even started to begin with until game keys became a legitimate thing.
