I'm not a livestreamer because livestreamers are all narcisists. Imagine pointing a camera at yourself and posting videos pretending you're important, for a hobby like gaming no less.

fotm friendslop or live service game + tts donations so people can call you niggers + youtube embed donations so people can spam gay porn
whenever someone says or plays a no-no you have to act as seriously offended as possible so you don't get banned but also do nothing to prevent it from happening again
you also have to stream on a consistent schedule
you will be a circus monkey and no one will respect you except 10 year olds who think you're they're friends because they donated with mom's credit card
all this is to make less money than if you spent the same amount of time at a real job and you will never enjoy video games again

The only way you have a chance in hell at making it as a steamer by playing games is to be one of the first to stream some multiplayer game that happens to go viral (I'm pretty sure Among Us kickstarted several large streamer's careers). Most streamers who happen to blow up in recent years have done it by:
1. Being friends with an already very famous streamer who shills their channel.
2. Spamming YouTube shorts where they act like retards until one of their clips goes viral.

Iron mon pokemon runs is your most frequent. Then you can throw variety in there if that's what you want to do.

Feel like that's the easiest community to get into. The most boring streamers get an automatic 100 viewers

Play (You)r favorites. Bonus points if they're obscure. Extra bonus points if they're actually good games.
Avoid prime mainstream shit like the plague. Especially games with oneitis-infected viewers like League of Legends or Minecraft, because the moment you pivot away from those games you'll lose 99% of your audience.
If you're absolutely serious about streaming as a hobby and a potential career (don't expect to make it a job right away), you NEED to be consistent. Have a schedule, and get accustomed to streaming at least 3-4 times a week.

it all depends on 4 things
>how appealing your voice is
>how appealing your face is
>how knowleadgable you are about the subject of your streams
you can pay someone else for the last one and focus on the first 2
if you are browsing /v/, your chances are that you have an awful voice and even uglier face, which is the sadder part, is that you are one of the uncharismatic fatties.

If I did this I feel like I could get somewhere. Unfortunately I can't warrant streaming that much if no one is watching. Yes I know, Catch-22. I put a lot of focus on YouTube since that's something that people can check out whenever and editing eats up so much time. I also don't want to build up a massive backlog of footage. My flow is Multi-stream to compilation style Let's Plays to Clips. I have 3 clips a week scheduled until September and a backlog of footage that I need to extract clips from that will probably fill out the rest of the year. Unfortunately the clips channel gets absolutely no views whatsoever. It's rare, but I occasionally upload something other than a Let's Play on the main channel. I did a Post-Series Review on Mega Man 1 that I posted here not too long ago that people enjoyed.

Here's one of my favorite clips

Impossible to become a variety streamer today. It's very oversaturated
1. Leeching method: You have to leech from popular streamers if you want a chance.
2. Essaytuber method. Be a good speaker and good video editor. Promote your essay gaming garbage and pray that it pop off. Once you build up a fanbase, you can try streaming.
3. Skill method: If you're like really good (like top 0.1%) at competitive games like Valorant/CS/Dota/LoL/etc. Or you're like a speedrunner of a specific game, you'll gradually build your own fanbase. It depends on the popularity of the game though.

What's with the negative terminology? I guess networking is considered leeching now? Networking is how you get anywhere in a field that involves providing a service or entertainment for other people, regardless if it's a hobby or a job.

>>715505318
Call me crazy, but I would never be able to befriend and just hang out with someone for the sole purpose of just trying to "boost my own career"
But then again I never understood the whole "networking" crap, most networking you get is on your current jobs and shit, not just randomly talking to people.

I'm about to hit 1 year streaming next week. Expect to have 0-5 views for a long time. You probably won't have any donations for a long time as well, just got my first last month. I'm going to stick to it for a few years and see what happens.

Because your original intent is to be another streamer, and not just the streamer friend. It's leeching, plain and simple.
Twitch whores did this all the time before vtuber was a thing. They join pub stars or pro/ex pro player party/stack, they use exaggerated voice and moans all the time to build up their name.
Once they got popular enough, they leave the stack forever.

You can network yourself without also being a massive faggot. Obviously there's going to be those type of people, but you can accomplish the same thing without throwing others under the bus once you don't need them anymore.

>I guess networking is considered leeching now?
I think there's an EXTREMELY fine line between Networking and Leeching. Honestly I'd much rather form a genuine friendship, but networking kind of muddies those waters unless both people start from nothing.
