What is the point of scalping?
>A Switch 2 is $500.
>You resell it for, say, $700.
>Ebay takes %15 cut so that's -$100
>shipping is gonna be like -$20
>so you make a profit of $80
>how many could a scalper realistically buy? 10 switches? So they make $800 profit total
Big woop. You also have to factor in the time wasted on trying to buy these things in the first place, waiting hours in a queue, having to make and monitor your ebay listings, and then package and ship them. They probably won't sell them all for at least a month. It's also a huge risk that can backfire. So basically these guys just make everyone miserable so they can make a minimum wage salary? Unless they can amass like a thousand switches (doubt), it doesn't make sense.

Greed and stupidity tend to be common bedfellows.

I am convinced that the companies scalp themselves. They take 10% of their inventory, create fake scarcity, and list it on various e-commerce stores pretending to be second-hand suppliers.

I am not crazy

scalpers scalp lots of shit, not just one item
it's a whole ecosystem and if you can do it from the comfort of your home with some free scripts, it can make enough money to support a relatively easy lifestyle

That’s pretty rough. I guess if you can get a bunch easily, charge an extra 20 for shipping, and can ship on your lunch break it’s still a worthwhile side hustle. You forgot taxes on the original purchase too though, so it’s tight either way.
