>1000hz polling rate
Does this actually matter or is it just marketing?
Anonymous No.715498009 [Report]
it matters but unless you play at high refresh rate you wouldnt notice https://gamepadla.com/

>1000hz
lmao is this a new marketing thing for consoles? pc had that rate in 2008 mate

It matters for battery life.

In many cases it's just marketing, but low latency controllers are more likely than not to have 1000hz

kino controller, has gyro, and full steam input support.

It matters more when you play at higher framerates.

If you're playing at 120+ fps a sub 8ms input is preferable for accuracy, but I doubt there are a lot of 120+ fps games out there that require frame-perfect input.

Where do I sign up to get paid to shill these shitty controllers?

Yeah, but these guys seriously need to re-think their branding. They have like six or so controllers that are all branded "Ultimate" which is dumb — when I see "Ulitmate" I expect one top offering.

I just looked up their latest controllers, and there are two Ultimate 2 controllers. What the heck.

Yeah — Ultimate 3-mode, Ultimate Mini, two versions of Ultimate 2, three versions of Ultimate 2C. And that's not counting outdated versions Ultimate 1 and Ultimate C. This is ridiculous. Was it hard to pick different names for different models?

The only diff is the button layout. One is xbox the other nintendo

Yeah its a bit of a clusterfuck but essentially it just boils down to this:
>Ultimate is their first flagship.
>Ultimate C is a budget version of their flagship which strips out a few things.
>Ultimate 2 is their second flagship which improves on the original.
>Ultimate 2C is just a budget version of the 2 which strips out a few things to reduce the price.
And there's a regular version meant for PC/Android, Switch version and Xbox version depending on the model because Nintendo and Microsoft are freaks. Generally though, the Ultimate and Ultimate C aren't really worth looking at so they can be safely ignored so all you need to worry about is the Ultimate 2 and 2C and whether you want it to work with the Switch. They recently patched all their controllers to work with the Switch though so it gets even more confusing. I think the only difference between the Switch and non-Switch versions at this point is the Switch version works with Bluetooth while the non-Switch version only works via the wireless dongle but the non-Switch one is 1000hz polling rate so its objectively better for the Switch than the Switch version so yeah. They did a bad job.

I don't know how much it costs and don't have a Switch 2, but I held one in a store and the buttons feel nice.

I never understand why 8bitdo never makes their controllers for PlayStation consoles but they make them for everything else. 8bitdo controllers use Bluetooth which all modern consoles and PC, and mobile devices use.

Ultimate 3-mode is just the first Ultimate but it supports the Xbox.
Ultimate Mini I believe is just the Ultimate C but for girl hands.

polling has diminishing returns, you wont notice the difference between 1000hz and 250hz

>>715501952
I have the wired one, its pretty solid for how cheap it is, was a massive upgrade over the bootleg 360 controller I have been using for like a decade on pc.

i bought this in the hopes of being my forever controller, and it is great for games like MH Wilds or games with analog usage, but when i use the d-pad for fighting games it's really difficult to nail down what i want it to do.

so:
>am i just bad and do i need to clean up my inputs
>is this controller and its dpad not really used for fighting games

Any CPU from 2008 and before would shit itself if you had a 1000 Hz peripheral device
Anonymous No.715508383 [Report]
>>715506965
because sony is very anal and aggressive about third party peripherals.
if you dont pay their licensing fees their controller DRM will lock you out after a few minutes.
nintendo and MS dont do as much to prevent unlicensed stuff.

This is a great controller, probably the best d-pad I've used on a modern 3D controller.
But I'm waiting for THIS.
Anonymous No.715508524 [Report]

d-pads are extremely subjective, different for everybody and not the primary focus of most controller makers.

>Bluetooth = Nintendo
>Wireless = Xbox
That's literally it. C is the cheaper budget line while the one without is the flagship. They're usually on sale around Amazon Prime Day so that's when I get it.
Anonymous No.715509046 [Report]
Well shit. I already have perfectly good Ultimate 2.4GHz. But they are having a sale on the Ultimate 2's for 45€. Do I really want gyro, clicky (?) dpad and the L4/R4 buttons? Is it really worth it? I really enjoy the first iteration

I want it mainly for fighting games and also for 2d games

Fucking same.

I'm calling it now, Valve will make an announcement releasing this, the new desktop SteamOS, and Half-Life 3.

And Microsoft gaming will be finished.
