Their initial foray into the gaming industry failed, so now they're sticking around to prevent a resurgence.
Imagine the drop in shareholder confidence if Microcuck leaves the market and suddenly everything improves, even if the low IQ shareholders don't blame Microsoft for the decline, they'll still view leaving a thriving market as a bad management move.
The normalization of the 360 controller alone is a massive detriment to game development that is so internalized by now that even developers don't realize it.

Ridiculous Snoyfag. Master Chief and Marcus Fenix sold so many fucking combined games for a solid decade that calling it anything but a massive success is disingenuous hater shit. Worry less about Xbox and more about Slopcord being the biggest cultural and commerical flop in modern gaming history and now you have the possibility of Slopathon being shelved eventually, which would be another massive loss. Can't wait to play Spider Man and God Of War on my SeX.

It doesn't matter if the parent company has 3 trillion market cap and enough money to waste 100 billion on slop churning publishers. If investors see no value and no return on their money from the Xbox division then $MSFT will simply shut it down.
PlayStation is Sony's bread and butter so they'll do anything and probably sacrifice the rest of the company before shutting it down.

I don't even care, consoles as a whole have failed.
Face it, Xbox had no staying power after 2010 and Microsoft failed to split the computing market into an office and a graphical API segment (the original intent of the DirectXbox and something that they were at least partially pushing for during 7th gen).
By all metrics Xbox has failed, at this point they can only maintain shareholder confidence, manage their decline and sabotage their competition.

And you can just actually set it under your TV and it will just work with a great interface
Even the current Xbox UI absolutely BTFOs the shitheap that is the PS UI, not to mention hooking up a regular Windows PC to your TV and trying to use it with just a controller lmao

Wow you're a clueless retard. There wouldn't be enough RAM to keep everything loaded at all times. It actually writes the game state to the internal SSD from memory and loads it when quick resuming. It's like a save state in emulators. The new Xbox PC will have it and your shitty prebuilt won't.
>The Series X UI literally looks like the windows 8 tiles, how is supposed to be good looking?
It's not about how it looks but the functionality. It's quick, easy to navigate, and efficient. The PS UI is flashy but it's a bitch to do anything in.

Yeah and it would have the same performance AT BEST as a base PS5, because you'd have to use a low profile GPU to fit in the case, at the moment that's a 5060 with 8GB VRAM at best.
There's the ASUS ROG NUC with RTX 5080 and 16GB VRAM but that costs over $3k.

>Wow you're a clueless retard. There wouldn't be enough RAM to keep everything loaded at all times.
Alt+Tabbing deprioritizes RAM and resources just enough to keep the game running at a minimum. Your quick resume does the same thing
The new Xbox PC will have it and your shitty prebuilt won't.

Compatibility layers, like Proton on Linux, but instead of a Windows compatibility layer on Linux, this will be a 360/Xbone/Series X compatibility later on Windows.
>Alt+Tabbing deprioritizes RAM and resources just enough to keep the game running at a minimum. Your quick resume does the same thing
It literally doesn't do that. Holy shit. Xbox is running games on a hypervisor so it just saves the state to disk. There's a limited amount of disk space set aside for this so that's why you only have 2-4 games at a time on quick resume.
>If its a windows computer then I don't see how another windows computer without the xbox sticker won't be able to do this
It will be a custom version of Windows that Microsoft will make sure only runs on their Xbox SKU.

Something is going on at Microsoft. They must be slowing down production or something. It's strange that we've gone so long without a regular shipment of them. We always got more PS5's than Xbox's in, but we've never gone 4-5 weeks without getting any Xbox's in. There was a "conspiracy theory" that Microsoft had halted production of Xbox consoles in 2025, but I don't think that's true.

I just wonder if places like Walmart and Gamestop are still getting them in? I did have a customer tell me they tried calling Wal-Mart and they said they didn't have any other. So it's clearly not just my store, but other stores in the area. I wonder if it's the entire city? How far out does it spread? Is it a regional thing? Weird.

Xbox is a huge tumor on the 3tn empire and the investors probably want it gone. It served its purpose of multiple post-covid stock bumps.
Further, elephant in the room is the ccp likely offering huge infrastructure and manufacturing deals if they kill the brand and leave a gap for Tencent/Nease in the West. Something that will also fail, but MS doesn't give a shit. They just want the money.

Microsoft makes hundreds of times more money than Sony and Nintendo combined, but they also do not give a shit about gaming and if they think the money spent on games would be better spent elsewhere they'll shut it the fuck down. That's basically what's happening now, they've been given extremely high mandates to try to sell as much as possible to demonstrate xbox is a profitable part of microsoft's future, or else.
Meanwhile Nintendo and Sony need gaming to live, they're dead without them.

They just had to make good games(or at the very least make people think they do).

How can a trillion dollar company fail at doing such an easy task?

maxing doesn't mean shit. i could toast my 5090 at 720p in some unreal engine 4 title if i wanted to, by using cinematic preset and screenpercentage 200, aahistory 200, csm res 16384, -15 lod bias, 10x draw distance.

what the 5060 offers at 1080p is fucking insane. you are basically living like a god at 1080p on that card as long as you aren't fucking retarded and have common sense.

I know they raised the price not long ago. Stores might be backing away from them due to already low sales numbers, even protesting the increase. Have you asked around or noticed anything else recently, like more stock for PS5 and Switch? Has your store tried to order them?

Bro really said "living like a god" while slider-juggling shadows and praying DLSS 4.0 doesn't crash the game at launch. If your GPU needs a PowerPoint presentation on settings optimization to hit 60fps at 1080p, it ainโ€™t divine, itโ€™s just poor.

Exactly. Everyone cries about how cruel and greedy Microsoft is being but Microsoft is actually too lenient and clearly that doesn't work.
>no crunch
>no limit on budget
>no deadlines
>no corporate meddling of the direction of the games
>no limiting freedom of expression or creativity
>the one condition is they have to make a good video game
>everything bleeding heart game journalists asked for
>in motion they just collect paychecks and jerk off
>push out multi million dollar budget 10 year turds
>no one plays them or spends money on them or they get critically panned and lukewarm reception
>devs hold out their hands for the paycheck of their next 10 year turd
>Microsoft says no
>cry and beg for a second chance
>bleeding heart game journalists cry again

And I didn't hear anything about Hellblade getting layoffs. Oblivion is pumping out like 20 games this year and look at how there aren't any layoffs there. Rare just had a game that was in development hell since 2014 mercy killed but no layoffs since Sea of Thieves is still very profitable. Anyone who's being honest can see Microsoft is just delousing itself.
Yes even including Tango. Tango didn't make a break into the Japanese market like it was intended to and Microsoft didn't want to deal with the overseas communication and management anymore or wait for another not system seller. None of these bleeding hearts bought Hi-fi Rush. No one cried when the devs that made Redfall went under or when "King" who most people probably never heard of experienced layoffs. And realistically a lot of people that got fired were in administrative positions.

They're clearly restructuring the brand into a platform like Steam. No more dedicated console. Just consolidating the Windows store and consoles into "Xbox". Everything just works on "Windows". Did you not notice the constant "this is an Xbox" and "play Xbox anywhere" branding? They're already making a stripped down Windows purely for gaming. They'll probably have set standardized spec requirements and make a "Xbox" mini PC with stripped down Windows that all their in house games are guaranteed to run well on. Then license out the OS to other third party pre-build PC companies to make their own "Xbox" products like they're already doing now with the handheld.
