Speaking of Donkey Kong Country Returns, Cranky has a very interesting line during the Factory overworld, a world which is full of DK Arcade memorabilia like girders and even a replicate of one of the DK arcade levels in Foggy Fumes. I see this as a very subtle nod to that lore. Will be a shame for it to get retconned, it was very soulful and made Cranky who he is. I really don't like how much they've toned down his meta.
