Also some games do well with fixed map but others feel like they suffer. I feel like GTA IV did well with fixed while GTAV didn't because IV had the alleyways visible on the minimap and the GTAV map already is trying to do that slightly angled perspective view. It fucking sucks because it's hard to gauge distance.

My brain just breaks trying to track things with the minimap spinning.
Keeping it stationary with your own indicator moving ties directly to your actual character moving and becomes ten times easier for me to parse.
