threadly reminder that SKGiggers can't actually come up with a rebuttal to the fact that this "initiative" has no solution to the fact that game companies would be on the hook for hosting the game's files forever for download, which costs money forever, past:

>autistic screeching

Stop Playing Games

I've got 13,000 combined hours on steam. I could learned something useful and done something productive in that time, instead I have failed at life. Don't be like me. Don't let the same thing happen to others. Join the initiative to ban all existing games and any future games from being made.

>game companies would be on the hook for hosting the game's files forever for download
No they wouldn't. Nobody is asking for companies to sell games forever, just that once they HAVE sold it to customers, they can't make them unplayable. Why is it that every single time someone is against SKG, they lie about what the initiative is trying to do?
Anonymous No.715533505 [Report]
>>715533284
If they want to be against it, they must lie. Otherwise they'd have no argument.

> they just need to release the server back-end publicly and keep that download available forever!
I get the motive behind SKG but anyone who actually thinks companies will fo this rather than just moving every online-adjacent game onto a subscription model to prevent any form of "ownership" is delusional
At least now they'll be forced to openly show how scummy they are but the only way to stop scummyness is to stop giving them money and the population is so retarded these days there will always be enough retards going broke paying subscriptions for them to carry on being scum
Anonymous No.715536054 [Report]
>>715535071
They've already tried forcing subscription models into everything, it failed. Only a handful of relevant games thrive doing that. If this passes the way everyone wants it to, they can still continue their current business model no problem anyways, all they have to do is design an "off switch" in the planning phase. It's really not a big ask, it's just that game companies are little rat bastards and wants to hold all the cards in all ways they can

>I could learned something useful
Just cause you're retarded and need constant stimulation doesn't mean everyone is like you. People can play games and do other stuff.
Anonymous No.715539369 [Report]
>>715535071
They'll only get away with subscriptions on a couple of super popular games. And we still have to see what will happen with games that sell you in-game items, no matter if the game is otherwise free or needs a subscription. The rest of the games will be saved.

It's so funny seeing normies utterly BAMBOOZLED by a narcissist. They go from blindly believing that he's a tech genius and giving him millions of views on Youtube, to blindly seething and repeatedly asking "WHY DOESN'T HE ADMIT THAT HE'S WRONG?" It's like narcs cast an actual spell on them.

>game companies would be on the hook for hosting the game's files forever for download
No they wouldn't. The game only has to be functional with what is already supplied to the customers before ending service. There is no requirement for the game to be forever obtainable. It just has to function for those who already have a copy.

It's easy to pretend to be an expert about something the audience has no experience with. It helps that most of his streams had little to no actual dev work happening. It was pretty much just a stream of watercooler chat about game design "theory", which in Jason's case were mainly peptalks about how working hard and staying focused are important. The audience walks away feeling inspired with how he makes game design sound so simple and obvious. Mainly because he's avoiding discussing any actual design challenges and is just mesmerizing everyone with some "just do it" speeches.
