They've already tried forcing subscription models into everything, it failed. Only a handful of relevant games thrive doing that. It's easy to pretend to be an expert about something the audience has no experience with. It helps that most of his streams had little to no actual dev work happening. It was pretty much just a stream of watercooler chat about game design "theory", which in Jason's case were mainly peptalks about how working hard and staying focused are important. The audience walks away feeling inspired with how he makes game design sound so simple and obvious.
