why have developers forgotten how to optimize games in the last few years?

bruteforcing is the norm. optimizing had been dead for decades.

Nigga I like Cyberpunk but it's the opposite of "optimized".
It struggles to run on any machine no matter your setup.

To be fair, if I was a dev I would suggest a 5080 or better because the damage poorfags can do to a game's reputation is incalculable.

Poor optimization is just an excuse to make you buy new hardware. They're in cahoots.

They aren't in cahoots. As the saying goes, "Conspiracy doesn't require coordination. It just requires aligned interests." Optimization is "wasted" dev time if it runs "good enough" (it doesn't.)

Having to compromise your settings, framerate and resolution to make your game stable means your machine is struggling with it

>outsource and get bad unoptimized assets
>no one optimizes, because someone will get to it later
>team that was going to optimize gets laid off
>by the time anyone could realize that something is wrong, the person who makes the judgement call is some "big number good" mouthbreather who okays a 500 GB game
>even if by some miracle someone tries to optimize, they're an unskilled employee who has minimal experience with the whole of the project and is equally likely to fuck up as fix anything
Bad standards, bad management, bad administration and bad communication, the hallmarks of MBA oriented management.

Wtf are you talking about? Non-RT Cyberpunk can be played on a Ryzen 1600 + GTX 1070 if you turn off raytracing.
