All good and interesting speedrunners left or were banned. Couch commentary is dogshit now. This event peaked in 2013-2015 era and has been downhill since they started banning people for the dumbest shit imaginable. The event went from a more underground scene of friends running and joking with eachother for charity, to reddit incarnate with blue sky tier restrictions on speech.

You know how GDQ donation readers and the people on the couch never shut up? Imagine that but twice as bad as usual this time around. Most of the runs that were decent are hard to watch because the talking just doesn't stop. They'll sit there and endlessly praise the music or whatever is happening on screen so much you can't even hear what they're praising, you just hear them talking about how cool it all is.
I've always said that people like Chibi are what killed GDQ. People needing to constantly fill the space because they aren't satisfied with just watching the game being played. Constant talking as if it's a let's play.
Oh and TRANS ROITES HOYPE literally every 2 minutes.

Sometimes I get a bit uncomfortable with how often they try to inject humor into everything they say. Not uncomfortable in the way a 4chan incel gets uncomfortable seeing somebody being happy and entertaining, but rather that I'm very interested in the technical side of how the speedrun works and would rather they spoke more about that sometimes. As the years go on I've not been able to watch runs as consistently.

People that made entertaining streams like Bonesaw got banned because of safe jokes. The faggots that run gdq are afraid of backlash from every and anything. All the tranny and cringe aside, a lot of the runs are straight up boring as fuck. Not every game is interesting when speedrunned. This GDQ especially had a shit load of races, which often have the key details of the run completely obfuscated by the small screens and commentary focused on the players over the game. Only the Super Metroid run comes to mind as the one that was actually fun to watch. But the root cause overall of the event being trash is that it's run by a bunch of corpo data crunchers who make decisions based on what makes the most money. I guarantee most of their cash cows are trannie autistis, and so they milk the fuck out of them.
