Nope, back in the days of the early mainstream internet, the early 2000s, internet made us full aware of how the originals looked like and we could see the original version x censored version side-by-side.

Back then, everyone hated when videogames and anime was censored, we could see not just the USA and UK dubs, but also the censored dubs from around the world like those islamic countries.

Goverment wants to censor stuff but it can't pull out full censorship on everything because they will meet too big resistance. They do it step by step slowly starting witch niche stuff like loli characters in anime so they can implement censorship mechanism while most of retards will clap like seals because "Goverment does it to protect children" and only a small group of anime fans will resist alongside with people who believe in freedom. Once this get censored they will do it with older women in anime and then when they are done with anime they will go after another thing like videogames slowly taking over hills defended by small groups of people and most of people who will get their shit censored will just walk away and refuse to fight over your thing because you refused to defend their thing. And then they will go after for example biology books because "They offend transgender people" and when they are finished, they get all mechanism implemented and resisance heavily weakened they will start censoring everything, information, articles, historical facts, anything that will question goverment's authority or their decisions like in 1984.
