Nintendo has never understood DK's appeal. Miyamoto desperately wants to erase Rare's legacy on the franchise, completely ignorant of the fact HIS DK was a hollow featureless villain with no identity. Literally everything that made DK popular was invented whole cloth by Rare for DKC and 64, right down to his basic design.
