Advertising doesn't actually work. It's a multi-billion-dollar scam industry that produces nothing of value. If the wider business world caught on to this truth the whole tech sector would fucking implode, so it's glossed over and google swears your ad impressions are totally 100% real and worth the money you paid. It leads to weird contradictions like this, where microsoft can somehow be 100% sure millions of users are getting a direct notification advertising something, but it doesn't seem to work at all, even though it's supposed to. But they won't ask questions about it because that could be very dangerous for everyone.

Twitter (X), Facebook, Snapchat, Pinterest (they're listed on the NYSE!), Fastly, Alphabet (Google, YouTube, etc.), a hundred lesser companies all running the same scam, Robinhood. Want to really blow your mind? Add up the revenue for the 20 largest tech companies and compare that to the entire advertising spend for the entire US economy. Guess which is bigger. Someone is paying for "advertising" and they don't even run a company.
