I liked it a lot, had more fun with it than with 1 in the gameplay department but it also feels undercooked/unfinished. Felt like a big DLC instead of a new game.
There's a constant sense of something missing. Maybe that's point, considering what happens throughout the story.
Wait a minute.... This feels familiar somehow...

Forbidden West was a PS4 game. DS2 will probably be like most PS5 exclusive ports and not even launch on non-RTX cards. It'll also require an SSD, a luxury that very few /v/ users can afford.

It doesn't use raytracing or any special tech. It's entirely GI probes and screen space reflections. It uses normal LODs and not virtual geometry. It's technology wise a last gen game but with current gen polycounts.

i finished the first one like a week before this one came out.
i just reached the northern part of aussie land.
game is pretty fun so far but part of me feels like the game is just some sort of weird reimagining of the first game.
story shit happens and you get transported to some weird place and fight military people pretty much exactly like the Cliff fights from the first game.
its like kojima was so obsessed with that part he decided to just redo it again in the second game. unless they explain this later or something but man, kojima could have done something different here.

other than story gripes so far, gameplay is fun. still trying to 5 star everything ive unlocked so far and trying to farm likes like some clout chasing social media faggot.

Finished it a about week ago and had some time to stew on it. Whenever someone says "it's worse than DS1" it still means that it is more Death Stranding but with objectively better mechanics.

My thoughts are that the gameplay (the thing why you're playing a vidya in the first place) is better, more streamlined, snappier. The addition of a proper day/night cycle and a music player will make going back to DS1 tough. Those who complain about a lack of challenge/difficulty have forgotten DS1's experience. Once you have unlocked Ziplines the true Death stranding begins.

If there is one thing to complain about is the lack of Low Roar in DS2.

Can't get invested in a story/universe where nothing makes sense. Everything can happen, the rules are bullshit because Kojima can make you fight a giant Gozdilla plushie using a baseball bat for no other reason than "lol it's fun".
My suspension of disbelief has its limits and the second Higgs 2.0 appears on screen, it's over. This shit is less coherent than Mortal Kombat, a franchise were wizards and cyborgs fight chinese ninjas

I just hit credits
The ending sequence was really cool but I think the entirety of the middle of the game was dull. The combat was way better but deliveries feel more brainless until you get stuff like the cannon and have to deal with the mountain area.
A lot of the story felt directionless for the purpose of cramming in more epic plot twists whereas the first one felt way more focused with its themes, I guess part of that is just a consequence of being a sequel.
Overall I liked the game but it overstays its welcome.
Also its a warcrime that there's nowhere to use the big crab in the story after you catch him.

I feel like there was a huge missed opportunity in having the APAS beach being as simple of an explanation as it was.
I also feel like there's still multiple games worth of story that can be explored. It always frustrates me how little kojima decides to explain in a 50 hour game with so much time wasting. So much time for so little story developments. The first game did well setting up the world, the second games story can be condensed into a quick 20 minute explainer, but for what reason? What caused the death stranding, I really really want to know more about UCA and bridges, there has to be more chess pieces on this chess board and it feels like you get shown a handful of pawns in a much wider and more interesting world.

First DS felt fresh and this just feels redundant. But it's nice to look at and I enjoy Kojima's shit taste in millennial music. Woodkid fucking sucks.

I thought the same thing but i think that's just how women are if they actually like each other and develop a sister like bond.

Tomorrow is young aunt and Fragile is wine aunt to Rainy's child.
These people never met women.

Was I suppose to instantly figure out the deal with Sams BB and who Tomorrow is? Or am I too high IQ for this game?

Well yeah I was expecting a misdirect or something but it was just cut and dry like that. Like Kojima wasn't even trying to be subtle.

it was subtle. subtle mean you're supposed to notice before the reveal to the character. if it wasn't meant to be understood by the player it would't have been subtle and wouldn't have had any hints.

If you didn't figure it out the microsecond that the character with the same hair and eye color as the baby who conveniently wears an arm band where the baby's birth mark should be starts kicking off her shoes like a baby, sucking her thumb, and curling up in the fetal position is actually the baby but grown up then you'd be an idiot.
I genuinely don't get what Kojima was going for with this, he treats it like a big twist when it finally comes up but its the most signposted thing in the world. During the game I thought maybe it was bait/a misdirect and Kojima is trying to get me into Sam's headspace of deluding himself into believing Lou could still be alive when she isn't, but then it just gets played straight.

I actually thought he was gonna go with the "Lou is actually your wife's daughter" route. Instead of making Sam a cuck, he just turned poor Neil into one.
