It's getting a DLC with graphical overhaul you can toggle off if you want, one new character and Steam Workshop capability for custom characters you can upload/download as reskins for existing characters.
If you don't have the DLC but are playing with someone who does, you can temporarily access whatever custom characters they have downloaded.
