ahh, I had the exact same one, pretty sure I found a post on reddit that had the exact dimensions of the pads, but if I remember correctly I used 1mm for the outermost ones, 1.5mm for the two long strips in the middle and two 0.5mm pads squished down real nice for the vram, I also replaced the paste with a kryosheet, then I discarded the shitty plastic that was blocking the heatsink and replaced the fans with 120s, my temps never went above 60C under full load, didn't even have to spin up the fans from idle

It's still viable if you count dlss as 4k, which is fair since that's light years ahead of what the consoles have access to. You don't even usually have to use worse than console textures

This piece of shit (from Inno3D). Upgraded from a 1060, but I was borrowing a 3060ti for a while. Even from that it's a good upgrade.
Actually at €899 it was an acceptable price considering the 4070ti Super was going for an even higher price over here.
However I didn't expect Nvidia to give +8gb vram to the Super series, and definitely not so soon.
I had to physically get something though, so it couldn't be helped, but still I now hope that the new Super cards have a catch somewhere or I'm gonna be salty. Not that I'm too worried, there's always a catch with Nvidia.

6700XT. I picked it up almost exactly three years ago to the day for around $470 pre-tax. This was still during the chip shortage + crypto mining shit so NVIDIAs closest options (3060ti and 3070) were both still massively inflated to like twice the price. I've considered upgrading to either a 9070XT or a 5070ti but pricing, stock issues, and just not really being into newer games as much has made me realize I'm good to just wait as long as needed.

I have the Red Devil 6700XT variant and I ran uncapped Stalker SOC that hit like 1000fps in the menus and I thought my GPU was about to fucking explode with how insanely loud the coil whine was, freaked me out. The coil whine I get with frame rates within my monitors refresh rate range (up to 165, capped at 163) is a hell of a lot more tolerable by comparison.

only had it a month and it's an upgrade coming from a gtx1080 but not as much as I had hoped. LLMs and imagegen are sloooow. Games without Ray tracing at 1080p are good. Ray tracing is ok on low and god awful at high or more.

You can run Doom even in 4K with 8GB as long as you set texture pool properly lol. But at that point it's GPU power and not VRAM issue. Same with Monhun like how hard is it to understand that even if you added 23947348748GB VRAM the game would still run poor because the card itself is not fast enough.

And yes, but I've been waiting for a truly worthy upgrade since it's been holding up so well. I don't care much for graphics and dropping settings still gives me decent FPS. Only having 8Gb of vram fucking sucks though.
I'm also torn between AMD and Jewvidia. Nvidia haven't exactly been putting out particularly good stuff lately and I really hate DLSS and Frame Gen, but this card has been fantastic and I do also have a Gsync native monitor.

I splurged on a falcon northwest in 2020 when 3080s and 3090s were totally impossible to get. its the best chassis there is but its a midtower so now i cant upgrade my GPU, because they wont fit. so im stuck with a 3080 but its not so bad. im trying to figure out how to fit a GPU in this case, i am not getting rid of the case, its built like a fucking tank and looks badass. maybe ill squeeze a 5070 ti in there, or try a AIO 5090 which are shorter cards but where would i put the radiator? has anyone done an external radiator setup
