Would the PS2 Silent Hill games have played better with full camera control?

Fixed camera had soul

Also it allowed for clever and cinematic moments

>Elsewhere, the dynamic camera system is superior, and nearly always gives a sympathetic viewpoint, which is essential when you're trying to dispatch a bunch of mutant undead, although there are a few exceptions when you're running blind into a pack of salivating limb waving monsters.

zoomer here
>going through the game and imagining that someone had to accurately hand-pick each and every camera shot/position/angle for each and every scene and god knows what other quirks and hacks they had to do just to finish the game
>realizing that modern slop devs would never do something like that
I bet the sh1 remake will get the same cringe over the shoulder snoy moviegame camera because normies like that shit and it feels """modern""" to them even if it means butchering completely the original work

It mostly used a follow camera with some rules so it wouldn't phase through walls.

The number of people who think Silent Hill used static cameras like Resident Evil is genuinely mind boggling.

sure, especially if you are in the open, but I'm talking about moments when for instance in the school you enter the bathroom and hear the presence of something but can't see it because of how the camera was placed
if it was an over the shoulder camera you would just start blasting that shit without thinking twice
